how to reduce sgpt and sgot levels in ayurvedic - #25772

Stella

I am really worried about my liver health, guys. A few weeks ago, I had my routine blood test done and my doctor told me that my SGPT and SGOT levels are way higher than normal. Like, really high! I was shocked because I don’t drink alcohol and thought I was living a healthy lifestyle. Lately, I’ve been feeling some fatigue and occasional right-side discomfort, which totally freaked me out. I've been doing some digging online, but there’s just too much info out there. I want to know how to reduce sgpt and sgot levels in ayurvedic ways, you know? I read that some herbs like milk thistle and turmeric might help — are they legit? Also, is there a specific diet? Should I be avoiding certain foods or incorporating more of others? I'm honestly feeling lost and really just want to take care of my liver naturally. Any personal experiences or suggestions on how to reduce sgpt and sgot levels in ayurvedic methods? Appreciate any tips!

hello stella , You’re doing the right thing by checking early and being alert. Just because you don’t drink or do anything wrong doesn’t mean the liver can’t get overburdened — it happens from long-term stress, spicy or oily foods, late meals, too many medications, or even just your body’s own heat (Pitta) getting stuck in the liver. That fatigue, right-side heaviness, and raised enzymes are your liver's way of saying “I need help clearing this out.” The good part is, if you support it naturally now, it can bounce back fully. We use herbs that are cooling, anti-inflammatory, and help the liver detox gently without any harsh push. You'll need a few weeks of clean diet, regular medicine, and some rest for the liver to repair itself. No need to panic — just some regular care, and it will slowly reflect in your next test. Prescription Bhumi Amla capsule – 1 capsule twice a day before food Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tablet twice a day after food Triphala churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water Coriander seed water – Soak 1 tsp overnight, strain, and drink in morning Avoid spicy, sour, fried, and packaged foods completely for now If you have any doubts, you can contact me. Take care, regards, drKarthika.

Elevated SGPT and SGOT levels can indeed be concerning, since they often reflect inflammation or damage in the liver. In Ayurveda, balancing these levels involves understanding your body's unique constitution or dosha—Vata, Pitta, Kapha—and ensuring they are in harmony. Let's start with the herbals you mentioned. Milk thistle, known as 'Bhumyamalaki' in Ayurveda, is indeed useful for enhancing liver function. A typical recommendation is to take its extract, following the dosage instructions provided by a reliable source (usually in capsule or tablet form). Turmeric, another potent herb, can be incorporated into your diet. A small pinch of turmeric with warm water every morning can be beneficial, given its anti-inflammatory properties. Diet-wise, in Ayurveda, a Pitta balancing diet is often advised to reduce liver enzyme levels. This means focusing on cooling, non-spicy, easily digestible foods. You might want to include more leafy greens, beets, and cucumbers. Tske plenty of water through the day, but avoid icy-cold drinks. Foods rich in fats, processed items, and excessive meat consumption should be minimized, as they put stress on the liver. From an Ayurvedic perswective, ensuring your 'agni' or digestive fire is balanced is crucial. Regular meals, not skipping breakfast, and eating your largest meal at lunch could be advantageous. Practise yoga and breathing exercises like Pranayama – Anulom Vilom can particularly be useful. They help in detoxifying the body and relaxing the mind, which indirectly benefits liver health. Incorporate lifestyle modifications such as having a consistent sleep pattern and avoiding late nights. Mental stress also impacts liver health, engaging in stress-relief activities like meditation could be useful as well. Before starting any herbal treatments or drastic lifestyle changes, it’s wise to consult your healthcare provider, especially to cross-check with any ongoing treatments. Taking care of your liver necessitates a holistic approach in Ayurveda and, while online research is usefull, personalized guidance is always best.
