Namaste, Excessive fasting and skipping meals can disturb Samana Vayu, which controls digestion and appetite. When this becomes imbalanced, it can lead to bloating, irregular hunger, loose motions or constipation, acidity, and dry skin. It may also cause both Vata and Pitta imbalance, which is why some medicines help one symptom but worsen another. Simple measures that may help: Avoid fasting and long gaps between meals; try to eat at regular times every day. Take warm, freshly cooked and light food such as rice, moong dal, khichdi, and cooked vegetables. Avoid very spicy, fried, sour, or very cold foods, as they can disturb digestion further. Drink warm water or cumin–fennel tea during the day to support digestion and reduce bloating. Maintain regular sleep and avoid late-night meals, as irregular routine can worsen digestive imbalance. The main goal is to stabilize digestion gradually, which can help balance both Vata and Pitta over time. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support digestion include: Avipattikar Churna – traditionally used to support digestive balance and reduce acidity. Hingvastak Churna – sometimes used to help reduce gas, bloating, and improve appetite. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.
