I have got fungal infection nails (feet) since I am 7 years old. Now I am 24 years old an nothing has helped. I got help from dermatologist. But no use. I do not know what to do. Today I observed a red lump on skin of my right feet under the toes, I fear that the infection is spreading.

Doctors' responses
Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
The persistent fungal nail infection you describe suggests a chronic imbalance that may involve Kapha dosha, which is associated with heaviness, moisture, and stagnation. This dosha can contribute to the environment that allows fungal infections to thrive, particularly if there is moisture retention and poor circulation in the feet. The presence of a red lump indicates potential Pitta involvement, which can manifest as inflammation or heat in the body.
In Ayurveda, skin and nail conditions are often linked to the state of your digestion and overall internal balance. Weak digestion (or low Agni) can lead to the accumulation of Ama, or toxins, which may manifest as chronic infections or skin issues.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How has the fungal infection changed over the years? For example, has it worsened significantly, remained the same, or improved slightly at any point? 2. What treatments have you tried for the fungal infection? Please specify if you have used topical antifungals, oral antifungals, or home remedies. 3. Have you experienced any other symptoms along with the infection, such as itching, burning, swelling, or pain? 4. How would you describe your overall foot hygiene? Is it good, average, or poor in terms of regular cleaning and dryness? 5. Have you noticed any changes in your overall health recently, such as increased fatigue, frequent infections, or changes in appetite? 6. Do you have any known allergies or sensitivities, particularly to medications or foods? 7. Have any family members had similar skin or nail issues, or other skin conditions?
Your detailed responses will help guide the development of a tailored Ayurvedic treatment approach.
