What precautions should I take after Kshar Sutra for anal fissure and piles to avoid discomfort? - #53174
Dear Doctor, I hope you are doing well. I would like to seek your guidance regarding my condition. Last year, I was diagnosed with an anal fissure, and during the examination, two piles were also identified. On 8th July, I underwent the Kshar Sutra procedure. After a few follow-up visits, I was informed that everything had healed properly. However, I still experience occasional discomfort after passing stool. It is not exactly pain, but more like mild irritation. I have been regularly doing a sitz bath, especially in the morning after bowel movements. From the past two days, I have been experiencing slight constipation. Although the stool is not very hard, I feel mild pain on one side at the beginning of passing stool. I have started applying Jatyadi oil as well. I would like to ask: * What precautions should I take going forward? * How long should I continue the sitz bath? * Is it necessary for me to schedule another visit for a check-up? I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you for your time and support. Kind regards, Prashant Kumar

After Kshar Sutra, the tissues remain delicate for months. Even slight constipation or strain can cause: Mild irritation or burning Slight pain at the beginning of stool Sensitivity on one side (common due to scar tissue) This doesn’t necessarily mean recurrence—more often it’s post-healing sensitivity + bowel irregularity. 1) Keep stools soft Warm water early morning (1–2 glasses) Add ghee (1 tsp) in warm milk at night Include: Cooked vegetables (lauki, tori, spinach) Soaked black raisins or figs Avoid: Dry, spicy, fried foods Excess tea/coffee If constipation continues: You can take triphala churna (½ tsp at bedtime with warm water) (very gentle and safe for long-term use) 2. Avoid strain completely Don’t sit >5–7 minutes on toilet Don’t push hard even if urge is incomplete Go only when natural urge comes 3,Local care You are already doing well Continue Jatyadi Oil Apply after sitz bath or before sleep You can also apply a little before passing stool for lubrication
