Hello, The symptoms you are describing weakness, a “heavy” weighted feeling in the legs, and the need to stop or lean on support to find relief classically point toward a condition called Neurogenic Claudication (often related to Lumbar Canal Stenosis) or, occasionally, Vascular Claudication. In Ayurveda, this is primarily viewed as a Vata Vyadhi, specifically Mamsagatavata (Vata affecting the muscles) or Snayugata Vata (Vata affecting the ligaments/nerves), possibly with an element of Avarana (blockage of the channels). The “heaviness” indicates a lack of proper nourishment (Dhatu Kshaya) or a blockage in the flow of Prana (nerve impulses) to the lower limbs. To resolve this, we focus on nourishing the nerves, strengthening the musculature, and pacifying the aggravated Vata. Ayurveda Medicines : 1. Sahacharadi Kashayam Purpose: Specifically indicated for ailments of the lower limbs and sciatica-like symptoms. It helps reduce “heaviness” and improves nerve conduction. Dose: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily, 30 minutes before food. 2. Ksheerabala (101) Capsules/Drops Purpose: A potent Rasayana for the nerves. The “101” signifies it is processed 101 times for maximum potency to heal nerve weakness. Dose: 1 capsule (or 10 drops in warm milk) twice daily after food. 3. Dhanwantharam Thailam (For External Application) Purpose: A nourishing oil that strengthens the muscles and eases the “dragging” sensation. Usage: Warm the oil slightly and apply it to the lower back and both legs in a downward motion. Leave for 30 minutes before a warm water bath. Critical Recommendations Posture: Avoid forward-bending exercises; focus on gentle “tucked-in” pelvic tilts. Nutrition: Increase intake of warm, cooked foods with healthy fats (Ghee) to lubricate the Vata-dryness.
