Burning Mouth Syndrome in Ayurveda is often related to Urdhwaga Amlapitta, aggravated Pitta-Vata dosha, oral mucosal irritation, stress on nerves, weak digestion, and nutritional depletion. Since your symptoms are chronic (3 years), with red palate, red buccal mucosa, altered taste, fatigue, and burning triggered by spicy food, it indicates deep Pitta aggravation with tissue sensitivity. The good thing is that Ayurveda focuses on cooling, healing the oral mucosa, improving digestion, and calming nerve irritation naturally. Ayurvedic Line of Management 1. Internal Medicines Yashtimadhu (Licorice) powder with honey or ghee – helps heal oral mucosa. Kamdudha Ras / Praval Pishti – useful for excessive heat and burning sensation. Mahatikta Ghrita or Shatavari Ghrita – nourishes tissues and reduces burning. Avipattikar Churna at bedtime if acidity or heat is present. If fatigue is significant, gentle Rasayana support like Guduchi or Amalaki may help. 2. Gandusha & Mouth Care Very important in your case: Gargling with cold Yashtimadhu or Triphala water. Apply a small amount of cow ghee on palate and inner cheeks 2–3 times daily for soothing relief. 3. Diet Recommendations Strictly avoid: Spicy food Pickles, vinegar, excess tea/coffee Very hot food, packaged snacks, tobacco Prefer: Cooling foods like cucumber, coconut water, fennel water Soft homemade meals with ghee Pomegranate, soaked raisins, buttermilk (not sour) 4. Improve Digestion & Energy Low energy and persistent burning often indicate weak digestion and poor nutrient absorption. Eat meals on time. Avoid long fasting. Sleep on time Drink lukewarm water through the day.
