Hello I completely understand how distressing excessive hair loss can be — especially when you are already managing thyroid and hypertension. But don’t worry we are here to help you out🙂

✅ AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

✅ INTERNAL MEDICATION

1. Bhringarajasava – 15 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily (Improves liver function, nourishes hair roots, prevents greying.)

2. Amla Churna – 1 tsp in warm water after breakfast ( Rich in Vitamin C, pacifies Pitta, and promotes natural shine and regrowth.)

3. Narasimha Rasayana – 1 tsp at night followed by warm milk (Classical Rasayana for rejuvenation, hormonal balance, and tissue nourishment.)

4. Saptamrit Lauh – 1 tablet twice daily after meals with ghee and honey ( Strengthens vision, hair, and prevents premature greying.)

(These are all safe alongside thyroid and BP medicines when taken 2–3 hours apart.)

✅ EXTERNAL CARE

1. Neelibhringadi Taila Warm the oil slightly and apply to scalp at night 3–4 times a week.

Gentle massage for 10 minutes → improves circulation, nourishes roots, and reduces scalp heat.

2. Aloe Vera + Amla Juice Rinse: Mix equal parts fresh aloe vera pulp and amla juice, apply on scalp 20 mins before bath. Soothes itching, reduces dandruff, and supports hair regrowth.

3. Nasya Therapy (at home) 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril after morning bath (once or twice a week). Strengthens roots, nourishes brain and sense organs — excellent anti-ageing practice.

✅ HOME REMEDIES

Curry Leaves + Coconut Oil: Boil a handful of curry leaves in coconut oil until blackened; strain and use as hair oil. ( Encourages melanin formation and reduces greying.)

Fenugreek Hair Mask: Soak 2 tsp methi seeds overnight → grind → mix with curd → apply on scalp 30 mins before bath. ( Reduces dandruff and improves hair thickness.)

Amla Water Rinse: Add 1 tbsp amla powder in 2 cups water, boil, cool, and rinse hair post-wash.

✅ DIET & LIFESTYLE

✅Include:

Cow ghee, sesame seeds, soaked almonds, walnuts, dates, and fresh amla. Moong dal soup, leafy greens, seasonal fruits, and milk with turmeric or ashwagandha. Hydration with lukewarm water or herbal teas (Brahmi, Licorice).

❌Avoid:

Fried, spicy, and acidic foods. Excess tea, coffee, and stress. Sleeping late at night and washing hair with very hot water.

✅LIFESTYLE & YOGA SUPPORT

Practice Pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) daily for 10–15 mins — reduces stress and regulates hormonal function.

Gentle Shiro Abhyanga (head massage) at night promotes relaxation and sleep.

Manage stress through chanting, meditation, or slow breathing exercises.

Warm Regards, Dr Snehal Vidhate

HELLO,

At age 67, your body’s natural regenerative power slows down. Both thyroid imbalance (even if under control) and long-term hypertension after circulation, metabolism, and tissue nourishment- including the scalp and hair follicles

From an Ayurvedic point of view, your condition reflects primarily a vata-pitta imbalance with some rasa (plasma) and rakta (blood) dhatu depletion

VATA AGGRAVATION= causes dryness, roughness, brittle hair, premature hair fall

PITTA AGGRAVATION= causes heat and inflammation in scalp -> itching, burning, hair thinning

DHATU KSHAYA (tissue depletion)= weakens hair roots due to poor nourishment

AGE FACTOR= natural decline of kapha and Ojas leads to reduced hair densitiy

MEDICATION INFLUENCE= long term thyroid and BP medicines can slightly disturb metabolic fire and affect hair growth cycle

So your hair loss is not only external - it’s a reflection of internal metabolic slowing, dryness and hormonal imbalance

TREATMENT GOALS -balance vata and pitta doshas -improve scalp blood circulation and nourishment of hair follicles -strengthen the digestive and metabolic fire to absorb nutrients properly -rejuvenate dhatus (tissues), mainly rasa and rakta dhatu, which directly support hair -calm the mind and reduce stress (a major aggravator of vata) -promote healthy thyroid and bp balance through rasayana and yoga

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

INTERNALLY START WITH

1. NARASIMHA RASAYANA- 1 tsp with milk, morning empty stomach= 90 days =asthi-majja rasayana, hair growth (ref- bhaishajya ratnavali)

2. BHRINGRAJ CHURNA- 5gm + ghee at bedtime for 2-3 months =hair growth, scalp nourishment(ref- Nighantu Ratnakar)

3. CHYAWANPRASHA AVALEHA- 1 tsp twice daily with warm milk for long term 3-6 months =rasa-rakta dhatu and immunity(ref- charak Samhita)

4. DRAKSHADI KASHAYA- 30 ml before meals with water for 4-6 weeks =pitta-rakta sodhaka(ref- ashtanga hridaya)

5. SAPTAMRIT LAUHA- 500mg with ghee/honey twice daily in morning and night for 1-3 months = hair support, rakta support

6. AMALAKI RASAYANA- 5 gm in the morning with milk for long term =rejuvination, prevents greying and great for immunity

EXTERNAL OIL APPLICATIONS

1. NEELIBHRINGADI TAILA- massage warm oil 30 mins before bath for 4 times/week(ref- sahasra yoga)

2. DHURDHURAPATRADI TAILA- for scalp dryness and dandruff = twice/week(ref- bhaisajya ratnavali)

3. BRAHMI-AMLA OIL- infuse oil with fresh amla and brahmi leaves regularly use

FOR FRIZZ- use coconut or sesame base for INFLAMATION- use amla infused cooling oils

POTENT HERBAL PACKS FOR SCALP

1)CLASSIC HAIR PACK -bhringaraj churna- 1 tsp -amla powder- 1 tsp -hibiscus powder- 1 tsp -aloe vera pulp- 2tbsp Apply 1 hour before bath; rinse with herbal decoction

2)RAKTA- SODHANA SCALP LEPA -Manjistha+lodhra+triphala+sandalwood+rose water =apply during pitta-aggravated stages, especially with itching or scalp redness

ESSENTIAL FOODS -cow milk+ghee= builds Ojas, nourishes dhatu -black sesame seeds= asthi dhatu enhancer -soaked almonds(5-6)= omega 3+ protein -fresh amla(or juice)= rasayana, anti-pitta -moong dal khichdi= easily digestible -curry leaves(raw/chutney)= rich in iron and vitamin c -dates, figs, raisins= rasa dhatu replenishment

AVOID -spicy, fermented, fried , junk food -late night meals -overconsumption of tea, coffe, carbonated drinks -alcohol, smoking

LIFESTYLE + DAILY ROUTINES

MORNING ROUTINE -Wake before 6 AM= aligns with brahma muhurtha if possible

-GANDUSHA(oil pulling) with sesame oil= removes ama from head and neck

-NASYA= instill 2 drops of ANU TAILA in each nostril every morning- clears srotas, enhances hair nourishment

-SHIROABHYANGA(Hair oiling)- calms vata, strengthens follicles

-LIGHT YOGA- enhances circulation to scalp

-Avoid late nights, mental overstrain and excessive screenexpoure

HAIR WASH -use herbal decoctions- shikakai, Geetha, amla, powder boiled and filtered -avoid chemical shampoo, hot water -wash 2-3 times/week max

YOGA ASANA -Adho much svanasana(downward dog)= increases scalp blood flow -Sarvangasana= stimulates thyroid, nourishes head region -Shirshasana= direct blood flow to scalp -Ustrasana, Matsyasana= opens up chest and throat, affects hormonal balance

PRANAYAM -Bhramari= calms mind, improves oxygen to hair roots -Anulom vilom= balances vata- pitta -Sheetali/sheetkari= pitta shamak

MEDITATION -daily 15 mins of Trataka(candle gazing)+ Dhyana can help hormonal and mental factors

SPECIAL HIAR DECOCTION BOIL- 1 tsp bhringaraj, 1 tsp brahmi, 1/2 tsp yashtimadhu, 3 cups water-> reduce to 1 cup->drink daily AM or PM

HOME REMEDIES -Amla coconut hair pack =mix 1 tsp amla powder with 2 tsp coconut oil, apply weekly -Fenugreek seeds= soak overnight , grind, apply paste weekly for 30 min before wash -curry leaf oil= boil curry leaves in coconut oil, strain, and apply twice a week -onion juice if tolerated= stimulates hair follicles and improves blood flow -aloe vera juice= 20 ml daily on empty stomach balances pitta, improves scalp moisture

Hair loss at your stage is reversible to some extent, provided the approach is holistic- addressing internal balance, scalp care, and mental calmness. Ayurveda aims to restore vitality, not just grow hair. Be patient, visible results often begin after 8-12 weeks of consistent patience

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

Hair loss can be complex especially in the context of thyroid and hypertension, but since your thyroid and BP are under control, let’s focus on what might help strengthen your hair. In Ayurveda, hair health is connected with the balance of Pitta dosha. Excess Pita can lead to hair thinning and loss.

Start by addressing your diet, since Agni (digestive fire) is crucial. Include foods that pacify pitta: think sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Incorporate seasonal fruits, leafy greens, cucumbers, coriander, and mint in your daily intake. Avoid spicy, oily, or very hot foods as these can further imbalance Pitta.

For your scalp, regular oil massages can promote hair health. Use a cooling oil like coconut or sesame and infuse it with herbs such as Brahmi or Bhringraj. Warm the oil slightly, apply to your scalp at least twice a week, and leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it out. Consider using a mild shampoo and avoid hot water while washing your hair.

Include herbs like Amla within your routine. It can be consumed as powder or juice, helping to nourish hair from inside out owing to its high vitamin C content.

Hydration is key, as proper water intake helps to maintain cellular health. Aim for at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily, adapting this based on your specific needs, and consider adding herbal teas like chamomile or tulsi for extra benefits.

Stress could contribute to hair loss, so practice mindfulness or gentle yoga to enhance relaxation. Ensure a suitable amount of sleep each night, as a proper rest helps the body to naturally heal and rejuvenate.

Consult with a physician, especially since you are under medical treatment, before making significant changes or introducing supplements to your regimen. If hair loss continues, further investigation may be necessary with a healthcare provider to rule out other underlying causes.
