Lichen sclerosus, a chronic condition, indeed can be quite challenging. Ayurveda offers a holistic approach, addressing root causes like imbalances in the doshas, primarily Vata and Pitta. First step, focus on internal balancing. Start with a Vata-Pitta pacifying diet - enriched with cooling, nourishing and grounding foods. Include cooked vegetables, whole grains, ghee, and sweet fruits. Avoid spicy, fried, and excessively sour foods as they aggravate Pitta.

Incorporate herbs to support healing. Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) is beneficial for skin health, detoxifying blood and reducing inflammation. You can make a tea by boiling 1 tsp of Manjistha in water, and consume it twice daily after meals. Turmeric, another potent anti-inflammatory, can also help - take half a tsp mixed in warm milk or with honey.

For external relief, apply a soothing paste of sandalwood and aloe vera gel on the affected areas, which might alleviate discomfort due to its cooling properties. Make sure wounds are clean and dry before application. Incorporate regular body oil massage (Abhyanga) with sesame or coconut oil to maintain moisture on skin and calm imbalanced Vata.

Support these practices with lifestyle changes like stress management—try yoga or meditation to balance your mind, a crucial aspect in managing autoimmune conditions. Bring regularity to routine with regular sleep, early waking and balanced activity levels.

If symptoms persist or worsen, closely consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner. Your condition might require personalized, perhaps more intensive treatment like specific herbs or Panchakarma detoxification procedures. Staying attentive to your body’s signals and making these small changes, gradually will help manage your condition effectively.
