-Your weight issue is likely due to a combination of factors: some headache medications can cause weight gain, your hormones are imbalanced, and there’s a family history of liver problems, which can affect metabolism. Even though your diet is mostly healthy and you exercise, these factors can make weight loss harder. The next steps should include reviewing your medications with your doctor, checking your hormones and liver function, and focusing on a balanced diet with adequate protein and fiber, along with regular strength and cardio exercise. Managing sleep, stress, and regular monitoring are also important -Diagnosis (Ayurvedic): Medo dushti, agni mandya, vata-pitta imbalance Treatment: 1)Triphala churna 3 g at bedtime with warm water 2)Yogaraja Guggulu 1 tab twice daily after meals 3) Medohar guguglu 2 tab twice daily after meal 4)Chandraprabha vati 2 tabs twice daily after meals -Diet & Lifestyle: Warm, high-fiber meals, limit sugar/refined carbs, drink warm water, daily walk/yoga, strength exercises 2–3x/week, stress management -External: Abhyanga with sesame oil daily; Udwarthana 2–3x/week -Follow-up: 4–6 weeks

Hello Thanks for sharing your health concerns. At 61, and with your history of headache meds, hormone issues, high cholesterol, and a family history of fatty liver, we need to look at your condition from an Ayurvedic perspective, not just think of it as weight gain. AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING Your symptoms suggest: Slow metabolism + Kapha buildup + messed up fat tissue + sluggish liver. Long-term headache meds (especially painkillers, migraine drugs, steroids, antidepressants, etc.) mess with: – Liver detox – Thyroid & adrenal hormones – Gut function – How you process fat So, even if you eat well and exercise, your body is storing fat. That’s why: – You aren’t losing weight – Cholesterol is high – Hormones are all over the place – The retreat only helped for a bit In Ayurveda, we call this: Blocked metabolism due to Kapha & fat Why You’re Not Losing Weight Because your: – Liver is slow – Thyroid isn’t working well – You’re not sensitive to insulin – Fat tissue is inflamed If we don’t fix these, diet and exercise won’t work right. Tests to Get Done Please get these checked: – TSH, T3, T4 – Fasting insulin – HbA1c – Lipid profile – SGPT, SGOT, Ultrasound of the liver This helps us see what’s blocking your metabolism. Ayurvedic Treatment 1️⃣ To Fix Liver & Hormones Take: 1. Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tablet twice a day after food 2 Punarnava Mandur – 2 tablets twice a day 3. Bhumyamalaki churna – 1 teaspoon in warm water in the morning These will: – Reduce fatty liver – Lower cholesterol – Get rid of drug residues – Balance hormones 2️⃣ To Help Burn Belly & Hormonal Fat Take: 1 Triphala Guggulu – 2 tablets twice a day 2. Kanchanar Guggulu – 2 tablets twice a day These help with: – Sluggish thyroid – Hormonal fat – Weight gain from meds 3️⃣ To Fix Metabolism Every morning: Cumin + coriander + fennel tea (Boil 1 teaspoon of each in 1 liter of water, sip throughout the day) This boosts fat burning gently without making you weak. DIET PLANAvoid: – Milk, cheese, yogurt – Fried foods – Wheat at night – Sugar, pastries, bread – Night snacks ✅Eat: – Warm, cooked foods – Moong dal – Veggies – Barley, millet, rice – A little ghee Exercise Keep jogging & cycling Add – Brisk walk after dinner (15–20 min) – Gentle yoga twists You’re not failing. Your metabolism has been slowed down by meds. Ayurveda helps fix it at the root. With the right treatment, even at 61, your body can get back on track Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Sometimes certain long term medications alter liver metabolism and water retention which then affects hormonal balance and lipid profile even if the retreat helped temporarily if the root agni and liver correction was not fully restored the body may return to the same pattern your constitution and age require a gradual metabolic reset rather than intense detoxification The focus now should be on rekindling digestive fire gently without overheating the system warm light freshly cooked meals are better than raw or cold foods reduce excess grains and heavy dairy prefer moong based preparations old barley and lightly spiced vegetables avoid frequent snacking and keep a fixed meal timing early dinner before sunset supports liver rhythm

HELLO, At 61 , with persistent weight gain, hormonal imbalance, high cholestrol, and family history of NAFDL, we need a systemic Ayurvedic metabolic correction approach , not just general weight loss therapy Since this started after headache medication and has persisted > 6 months, this suggest -Agni mandya (low metabolic fire) -kapha medo Dhatu dushti (fat metabolism disorder) -possible yakrit (liver dysfunction) -age related vata aggravation affecting endocrine balance UNDERSTANDING THE ROOT CAUSE Your symptoms suggest MEDO DHATU AGNI IMPAIRMENT Leads to -stubborn weight gain -high cholestrol -sluggish metabolism KAPHA AGGRAVATION + AMA ACCUMULATION Leads to -hormonal imbalance -liver congestion -fatty liver tendency VATA INVOLVEMENT (age related) Leads to -endocrine irregularity -poor tissue nourishment AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT PLAN A) DEEPANA-PACHANA (correcting metabolism first- 4 weeks) Before fat reducing therapy, metabolism must be corrected MORNING (empty stomach) -warm water + 5 drops lemon + pinch dry ginger -OR 1/2 tsp Trikatu churna with honey (if no acidity) BEFORE MEALS -10 ml fresh ginger juice +pinch rock salt INTERNALLY -Trikatu churna= 1/4 tsp twice daily with warm water before meals -Guduchi Ghan Vati= 2 tabs twice daily after meals -Musta churna= 1/2 tsp before lunch with warm water B) LIVER AND LIPID CORRECTION (very important) Since there is family history of NAFLD -Punarnava madur= 2 tabs twice daily after meals -Bhumyamalaki capsule= 500 mg cap twice daily after meals -Kalmegha churna= 1/2 tsp with warm water in morning for 30 days -Triphala= 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water (mild detox + cholestrol correction) C) MEDOHARA (FAT METABOLISM CORRECTION- AFTER4 WEEKS) Once digestion improves -Triphala guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals -Vrikshamla capsule= 1 cap before meals -Garlic 1 clove daily DIET since you’re most lacto-ovo vegetarian -have barley -old rice (small quantity) -green moong -horse gram -bitter vegetables= karela, methi -bottle gourd, ridge gourd -turmeric + black pepper regularly WEEKLY LIVER CLEANSING SOUP -Bottle gourd + ginger +black pepper + coriander EXERCISE Your mentioned moderate exercise For your condition -brisk walking 40 min daily -add light strength training (very important at 61) -12 rounds surya namaskar (gradually) PRANAYAM -Kapalbhati (if no bp issues) -bhastrika -nadi sodhana daily WHY AYURVEDIC RETREAT MAY NOT HAVE WORKED Common reasons -no proper agni correction first -no liver specific management -no long term metabolic herbs -insuffiecient strength training -hidden insulin resistance IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE Since symptoms started after headache medication, review which medicine it was. some drugs cause -steroid related weight gain -beta blocker metabolic slowing -antidepressant related weight gain If you remember the medicine name, share it EXPECTED TIMELINE -4 weeks= better digestion, lighter feeling -8-12 weeks = inch loss -3-6 months= cholestrol improvement Slow, steady correction is ideal at 61. DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
