●The Importance of Diet in Diabetes According to Ayurveda, if the diet is not correct, even the best medicine cannot show its full effect. In diabetes, The purpose of diet is to: • Prevent the increase of phlegm • Reduce fat • Stabilize the digestive fireWhat to eat (grains and pulses) Dietary grains: • Wheat in limited quantities. Dietary pulses: • Mung bean, gram, pigeon pea • Barley, kodo, and savanna • Old rice (Shashtik Shali) • Horse gram (Kulathi). These grains are considered light, rough, and anti-phlegm and fat. Avoid new grains. What to Eat (Vegetables) Bitter and astringent vegetables: • Bitter gourd • Fenugreek, pointed gourd, drumstick • Radish, cucumber • Bottle gourd, ridge gourd, spinach • Leafy vegetables: These vegetables gently balance the phlegm and fat in the body. What to drink (drinks) Dietary drinks: • Buttermilk • Lukewarm water • Triphala water Kushodak/Sarodak (as advised by a doctor) Sweet drinks, packaged juices • Cold water Avoid sugary drinks. ●What should be limited/avoided? Sweets • White flour • Fried food • Excessive oil • Yogurt (at night) • Potatoes, sweet potatoes Excessive fruit (especially sweets) Diabetes requires balance, not abstinence. ●The Principle of Multi-Medicine Formula Multi-medicine combinations are considered more effective in treating diabetes than single medications, because they simultaneously act on: • Kapha-Meda • Agni • Dhatu • Srotas ●Herbs Used (Composition) 25 grams each: • Bitter gourd seeds, Gudmar • Wild jamun seeds, Neem, Giloy, Ashwagandha • Neem bark, Belpatra • Triphala, Turmeric • Special ingredients: • Pure Shilajit - 50 grams • Trivanga Bhasma - 12 grams This combination is chosen for phlegm-absorption, ama-reduction, and metal balancing. ●Quantity and ratio Normal quantities • 2 to 3 gm 1 or 2 times a day Drinking (with): • Warm water or takra (buttermilk) Time: • Before meals or as directed by the doctor The amount varies according to the nature, age and disease state of the person.

Type 1 diabetes is insulin-dependent. Ayurveda can support control, but cannot replace insulin. Do this: Continue insulin regularly as advised Do not stop or reduce insulin on your own Monitor blood sugar at least 2 times daily Diet: Avoid sugar, sweets, refined carbs Take balanced meals with protein, fiber Eat at fixed times, do not skip meals Include: Methi seeds (soaked, small quantity) Karela, jamun (seasonal) Lifestyle: Daily exercise (30 minutes walking) Proper sleep Manage stress Medicines (supportive): Nishamalaki churna 3 grams twice daily before food Gudmar (Meshashringi) churna 2 grams twice daily before food Chandraprabha vati 2 tablets twice daily after food These help improve glucose metabolism and reduce fluctuations. Keep monitoring sugar regularly while taking these. If sugar drops or fluctuates, doses need adjustment.

Ayurveda cannot replace your insulin or act as a direct substitute to lower blood sugar in Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes means your pancreas produces zero insulin due to autoimmune destruction. Standard Ayurvedic anti-diabetic herbs (like Karela, Jamun, or Gurmar) only work for Type 2 by stimulating existing beta cells or reducing insulin resistance. Because you have no beta cells to stimulate, this is exactly why your previous Ayurvedic treatments had no effect on your sugar levels. However, Ayurveda plays a vital role in treating your main symptom like frequent fatigue and protecting your organs from long-term diabetic complications. ✓Ayurvedic Prescription (For Fatigue & Organ Protection) 1. Pure Shilajit (Resin or Vati) Dosage: 1 pea-sized drop of pure resin (or 1 tablet). Time: Twice daily with warm water or milk. 2. Nisha Amalaki Churna Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon twice daily. Time: Early morning on an empty stomach, and before dinner. 3. Ashwagandha Churna Dosage: 1/2 teaspoon at bedtime. Time: With warm milk. ✓Crucial Medical Advice Never alter your insulin. Ayurveda is strictly an adjuvant (supportive) therapy in Type 1. Increase Monitoring: Monitoring only once a day is unsafe for Type 1. You must check your blood sugar multiple times a day (fasting, post-meals, and sometimes at night) to find out if your fatigue is being caused by hidden high spikes or low crashes. Anything white like wheat, refined flour, sugar, salt, potato, sweet potato Oily food Packed food Processed food Ready to eat food Dairy products ?? Medication ?? Type 1 diabetes is Insulin dependant diabetes and stopping insulin is NOT possible. Following the above mentioned lifestyle will help you keep your blood sugar levels in control but that will not change the fact that you neeed insulin.
