Hello, My daughter is having Hypothyroidism. She is in college and having irregular routine. She has gained weight and mostly feels tired and sleepy. Is Ashwagandha powder will help. If yes, in how much quantity. Thanks!

Yes, Ashwagandha can be supportive in hypothyroidism-related fatigue, weight gain, stress, poor sleep, and low energy when used properly along with her thyroid medicines. In Ayurveda, these symptoms are commonly linked with low Agni (metabolism), Kapha imbalance, stress, and disturbed routine. For your daughter: • Ashwagandha powder – ½ teaspoon (around 2–3 grams) at night after dinner with warm milk or warm water. • Start with a small dose for 2 weeks and observe digestion, sleep, and energy. • Avoid taking it on an empty stomach if appetite is low. Helpful Ayurvedic routine: • Maintain fixed sleep and meal timings. • Avoid junk food, cold drinks, excess cheese/bakery items, and late-night eating. • Include warm homemade food, soups, moong dal, fruits, dry fruits, and cumin-ginger infused water. • Light daily exercise, yoga, and Surya Namaskar help improve metabolism and fatigue. • 15–20 minutes morning sunlight exposure is beneficial. Important: • Continue her prescribed thyroid medication regularly and do not stop it suddenly. • Keep a 2–3 hour gap between thyroid medicine and Ashwagandha. • Thyroid levels (TSH, T3, T4) should be monitored every few months.

●You can give Ashwagandha Churna to your daughter in •With Liquids: 2 teaspoon mixed into warm liquids, such as milk or water.•With Ghee or Honey: Traditionally, it is sometimes combined with 2 teaspoon with ghee (clarified butter) or honey. •In Smoothies: 2 to 3 teaspoon mix with smoothies or other foods to mask the taste. Along with starts some other medicine mentioned below. ●Chandraprabha Vati - 2 tab twice daily with warm water after meal. ●Hakam Churna - 1 tsp. twice daily with warm water after meal ●Guggulipid Capsules - 2 cap twice daily with warm water after meal. ●Gotukola Capsules - 2 cap twice daily with warm water after meal.

Dear patient, This condition is due to irregular routine and yes loss of appetite is the top notch reason Do not give ashwaganda in loss of appetite as it cause more heavyness and fatigue. Ashwaganda didn’t digest and cause ama formation (toxins) in body. Initially restore appetite (agni) -chitrakadi vati 2tab thrice a day before meals(atleast 10 min before) For hypothyroidism -kanchanara guggulu 2tab twice a day after meals For hormone balance -ashokarishta 15ml mix with equal amount of water twice a day after meal Is she have constipation? Kindly follow this treatment for 1 month Hope this treatment helpful for you Thank you

But it should be taken along with her regular thyroid medicine, not as a replacement. Most important is correcting sleep timing, regular meals, and daily activity, as irregular lifestyle can worsen tiredness and weight gain. Ashwagandha powder – ½ teaspoon at night with warm milk for 1 week If tolerated well, increase to 1 teaspoon nightly Avoid taking it on an empty stomach.
