poisoning from Conium maculatum (often correlated with poison hemlock-type विष) can be explained simply like this: The toxic principle (coniine alkaloids) acts as a Tikta–Teekshna (sharp and penetrating) poison It causes Vata aggravation, especially affecting Majja Vaha Srotas (nervous system channels) – CNS action : The poison disturbs Vata Dosha Blocks normal Nadi (nerve) function Leads to loss of body movement and weakness (Pakshaghata-like state) Gradually causes respiratory muscle paralysis due to severe Vata obstruction

In Conium maculatum the main poisonous part comes from a strong alkaloid called coniine which acts very deeply on the nervous system in the body From an Ayurvedic understanding this plant behaves like a very tikshna and visha dravya which directly disturbs pranavaha and majjavaha srotas and quickly deranges vata leading to loss of normal movement and control in the body When this toxin enters the system it first irritates and stimulates the nerves but very soon it blocks the normal communication between nerves and muscles so the body loses its ability to respond gradually weakness starts from the lower part of the body and slowly moves upwards this is why the person may feel heaviness numbness and inability to move Even though the body becomes still the mind can remain clear for some time which is a very characteristic feature because the toxin is more active on the neuromuscular pathway rather than directly destroying higher mental functions As the effect deepens it reaches the prana vaha system and weakens the function of breathing muscles especially the diaphragm and chest movements this leads to severe difficulty in breathing and if not managed it can lead to complete respiratory arrest So overall this poison acts by first aggravating and then blocking vata causing progressive paralysis and suppression of vital functions especially respiration which is the main reason for danger in such exposure

The toxicity of Conium maculatum is driven by piperidine alkaloids like coniine, which paralyze the body by blocking nicotinic receptors. This represents as a potent Sthavara Visha that rapidly destabilizes Prana Vayu, leading to life-threatening respiratory failure. Given its high lethality, immediate modern emergency care is the only viable course of action for suspected poisoning. While these toxins primirally affect the peripheral nervous system Their systemic impact is often mistaken for a direct central nervous system sedative effect due to resulting paralysis Central nervous system symptoms may also include tremors ataxia or dilated people before motor block takes over It is extremely Lethal even small amount can cause fatal respiratory failure

The primary toxic phytoconstituents in Conium maculatum are piperidine alkaloids, specifically coniine and gamma-coniceine. These toxins act as nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonists; in the central nervous system, they initially cause brief stimulation followed by profound depression of the medulla and spinal cord. This results in a biphasic effect where the CNS drive to breathe is suppressed, which, coupled with the peripheral “ascending paralysis” of the diaphragm and respiratory muscles, typically leads to death by respiratory failure while the patient often remains conscious.

Hello, The toxic parts of poison hemlock come from a family of chemicals called piperidine alkaloids. The main ones are - Coniine – the poison - γ-Coniceine – often even more toxic than Coniine and the plant makes this first before turning it into Coniine - N-methylconiine - Conhydrine - Pseudoconhydrine The main culprit is Coniine but γ-Coniceine is just as dangerous – and in some situations even more potent. These poisons attack the system. They target nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. The effect happens in two stages 1. First over-excitation Glands salivate, muscles twitch, heart races person may. Feel jittery 2. Then paralysis The receptors get stuck in the “on” position then shut down This causes a curare-like paralysis – muscles can’t move, even if the person is still conscious, at first In the brain you can get - Dizziness trouble walking - Confusion and drowsiness - Sometimes seizures Poison hemlock is deadly because it causes respiratory muscle paralysis – the diaphragm. You stop being able to breathe in. Without a ventilator death follows from failure. In English: Poison hemlock works like a super-strong nicotine. It first jolts the system then paralyzes it – starting with muscles ending with the breathing muscles. That’s why poison hemlock is so deadly. Thank you
