Lip cheilitis can be quite bothersome but applying principles from Ayurveda can help. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition may relate to an imbalance in Vata dosha, which governs dryness and mobility, and perhaps Pitta dosha due to the burning sensation. It’s essential to address these imbalances to soothe the symptoms effectively.

Firstly, focus on hydration - both internally and externally. Drink plenty o’ warm water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and maintain your Agni, or digestive fire. You can enhance this with herbal teas like ginger tea, adding a pinch of turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Now, for external care, applying ghee or coconut oil can be very nourishing for dry lips. Do this several times a day, especially after meals and before bed. Make sure the ghee used is pure and organic. You might also want to try using a mixture of honey and rose water, applying it gently to the lips to bring a bit of moisture and cooling effect from the rose.

Your diet plays a significant role, too. Emphasize eating warm, cooked foods avoiding excessively spicy or salty contents which can aggravate Pitta. Think about including more sweet, juicy fruits like apples and pears, and favor warm smoothies or soups that provide both nourishment and hydration.

Be mindful of your environment and personal habits. Avoid licking your lios as this will promote more dryness. Use a humidifier in your living space if the air feels dry, especially during colder months.

If you feel your condition is persisting or getting worse despite trying these strategies, or if you notice any signs like severe pain, open sores, or blistering, see a healthcare professional. While Ayurveda supports many gentle and nurturing treatments, some situations need closer medical attention.
