Hair fall and dandruff are often symptoms of an imbalance in your body, especially in your pitta and kapha doshas. To address your concern, it’s crucial to look at both lifestyle and dietary changes, alongside specific treatments.

Let’s start with the most practical advice: try to massage your scalp gently with warm coconut oil or bhringraj oil twice a week. This will not only boost blood circulation in the scalp but also strengthen hair roots. You can keep the oil on overnight and wash it off with a mild herbal shampoo in the morning if possible.

Next, consider applying a paste made from fenugreek seeds (methi). Soak a couple of tablespoons overnight, grind into a paste, and apply to your scalp for about 30 minutes before washing off. Fenugreek can help reduce dandruff and nourish the scalp as well.

In terms of diet, reducing heat in your body is key. Try to include more cooling foods such as cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Avoid spicy foods, excessive caffeine, and alcohol, as they can aggravate pitta. Also, ensure you’re getting enough natural oils through nuts and seeds like almonds or flaxseeds.

An often-overlooked factor is stress, try engaging in calming activities like yoga or meditation to reduce stress levels; this can play a significant role in hair health.

Keep your environment in mind too. Excessive exposure to pollution or harsh chemicals from hair styling products can worsen the problem. Choose natural products and cover your hair when in polluted areas.

If dandruff remains persistent, boiled neem leaves and rinsing your hair with that water can have anti-fungal effects. This can be repeated thrice a week. But take care not to overuse, as neem can be quite drying.

If these interventions don’t help after a few weeks, it might be a good idea to consult a healthcare professional or an Ayurvedic doctor. They can suggest personalized treatments or check for underlying health issues. Sometimes, imbalances in hormones or thyroid levels can contribute to these symptoms, needing a more thorough examination.
