how to cure teeth pain - #36447

Connor

I am constantly having this annoying teeth pain that's driving me crazy. A couple of weeks ago, I started feeling this sharp pain on the left side of my mouth, and it gets worse when I eat or drink anything hot or cold. I've tried mouthwash, and even some over-the-counter pain relief, but nothing seems to work for long. I went to the dentist last week, and they said it might be a tiny cavity but didn't give me a definite answer. I just really want to know how to cure teeth pain without jumping straight to getting a filling or something. Also, I tend to grind my teeth at night, which could be making it worse, I guess. I’ve read some stuff about natural remedies but not sure what really works. Is there an effective Ayurvedic method, or herbs that can help? I do feel like I’m supposed to avoid sugar and dairy based off what I’ve read, but honestly, it’s tough. Any suggestions on how to cure teeth pain that won’t break the bank or require too much hassle? Would love to hear if anyone here has found relief because right now, I’m just trying to manage the pain day to day. Thanks!

The issue with teeth pain related to hot or cold substances, alongside the possibility of a cavity, suggests an imbalance involving the Ayurvedic concepts of Kapha and Pitta. Grinding your teeth might aggravate Vata dosha as well. To manage this pain, a multi-pronged approach can be adopted.

First, consider the application of clove oil, a common Ayurvedic remedy. Dab a small amount on a cotton ball and apply it to the painfull area, up to three times daily. Clove has analgesic and antibacterial qualities that can provide temporary relief. If its too strong, mix it with a bit of carrier oil, such as coconut or sesame oil.

For a more holistic remedy, you can create a rinse using warm water infused with a pinch of salt and a tiny pinch of turmeric. Both have anti-inflammatory properties. Swish this around the mouth after brushing your teeth, once or twice a day. Be cautious not to swallow it.

Addressing bruxism (teeth grinding) may involve stress reduction techniques which can pacify Vata. Simple breathing exercises or yoga can be beneficial. You might explore a massage of your jawline with sesame oil before bed to relax the muscles.

Regarding diet, for acute pain avoid sugary and extremely cold or hot substances entirely, as they can exacerbate the discomfort. Instead, focus on a balanced diet that includes foods like cooked vegetables, whole grains, and easy-to-digest proteins. You might also try to include turmeric, ginger, and fennel in your meals, as they’re known for their soothing properties.

These methods can aid in managing symptoms, but do not ignore the possibility of a dental condition that requires further evaluation. Hence, if symptoms persist, a follow-up with a dentist should be considered to prevent further complications.

For teeth pain, especially when linked with sensitivity and grinding, the Siddha-Ayurvedic approach can be useful. Teeth pain often results from an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement in the body and can cause sharp, fluctuating pain. Here are some methods that might help you:

First, consider using clove oil. Clove is traditionally used for its analgesic and antibacterial properties. Apply a small amount of clove oil on a cotton ball and place it on the affected area for temporary relief. Be cautious not to swallow it, as it can upset the stomach.

Try sesame oil pulling. This can help reduce bacterial load and soothe inflamed gums. Swish about a tablespoon of warm sesame oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes in the morning before brushing your teeth. Spit it out, rinse with warm water, and then brush as usual. Regular practice may relieve sensitivity over time.

For grinding, focus on relaxing the jaw muscles. Gently massage the jawline and the temples with warm sesame oil before going to bed. Adding a few drops of lavender oil can promote relaxation and ease tension.

Include calcium-rich foods, like almonds or leafy greens, to support dental health. You’re right about sugar and dairy; try to minimize them as they can exacerbate cavities and inflammation in sensitive individuals.

If pain persists or worsens, revisit a dental professional. Underlying issues like cavities require appropriate treatment to avoid further complications. Ayurveda can aid in managing symptoms, but it shouldn’t replace necessary dental interventions if essential.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
