how to take mulethi powder - #44521
I am really confused about how to take mulethi powder. A couple of weeks ago, I started having this terrible throat irritation and persistent cough, and a friend suggested mulethi as a natural remedy. I found some mulethi powder online and ordered it immediately. But now that I have it, I have no idea what to do. I've read some posts saying to mix it with honey, and others say to just stir it in warm water?? Like, do I take it daily or just when I'm feeling bad?? Also, am I supposed to use a lot? Some places say a spoonful, but that feels like too much to me 😅. I tried just taking some by itself, and wow, that did not go well at all, tasted terrible and it was so bitter. Should I be cautious about how long to take mulethi powder, too? People mention side effects but don’t really explain much. My throat feels a bit better, but covering up that awful taste makes me hesitated taking it again. Plus, there's so much info out there, it's kinda overwhelming. Really don’t wanna mess it up, especially since I want to get rid of this cough! I’d love to hear if anyone has good tips on how to take mulethi powder effectively. Any insights? I need some clarity – thanks!

For your throat irritation and persistent cough, mulethi powder, known as Licorice root in English, can be quite effective, but it’s important to use it correctly to maximize benefits and minimize any potential side effects. Mulethi has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that can be beneficial for throat issues and coughs.
To take mulethi powder, mix approximately half a teaspoon with a teaspoon of honey. Honey complements mulethi’s properties by adding to its soothing effects and making the taste much more bearable, addressing your concern about the bitterness. You can take this mixture up to twice a day. Alternatively, you can add it to a warm glass of water to make an herbal tea. Start with a smaller dose if the taste is too strong and gradually increase as you get used to it. You may take this formulation for a week or until your symptoms improve.
It’s generally advisable not to exceed two weeks of continuous use, due to glycyrrhizin, a compound in mulethi, which may cause water retention, and high blood pressure in some individuals if taken in excess. Pay attention to how your body responds, and if you notice any adverse effects, it’s prudent to cease consumption and consult with a healthcare provider.
When it comes to immediate relief, take it when symptoms are present. For general soothing and long-term improvement, taking it daily during the symptomatic period is often beneficial.
Ensure that you’re also hydrating well and avoiding irritants like spicy foods, smoking, and pollution that might aggravate your throat. If your symptoms persist despite these measures, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare provider to rule out more serious conditions.
