Alright, let’s tackle this together. PCOS often gets messy with not just hormones but also how we feel n look, right? From an Ayurvedic perspective, it’s all about balancing those doshas, especially focusing on Kapha and Vata, which can go really haywire with PCOS.
For hyperpigmentation and inflammation, we’re looking at internal balancing first. Triphala is a classic choice here, it’s a mix of three fruits that will help cleanse your body and improve digestion, assisting in removing that built-up Ama (toxins). You can take Triphala powder, about half a teaspoon, mixed with warm water before bed. It’s abit sour but darn effective.
Your skin will reflect what’s happening on the inside, so focus on your diet, too. Aim for warmth – warm cooked meals that are light and easy to digest, stay away from processed and junk food. Think mung dal, veggie stews, and plenty of spices like turmeric, ginger, and cumin. They’ll enhance your digestive fire or Agni.
Now, anxiety and anger - can’t stress how much calming the mind will help. Try Brahmi or Ashwagandha. They’re herbs that calm and nourish your nervous system. Try an Ashwagandha tea at night, or if capsules are easier for you, that works too. A little yoga or pranayama (breathing exercises) also goes a long way, even 15 minutes a day can work wonders. Especially, alternate nostril breathing will help calm those emotions down.
Sleep is a big piece of the puzzle, aim for routine. Bed by 10pm, if you can manage. Create a calming routine, maybe add a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow to aid relaxation.
Also, give yourself a break and embrace imperfections, right? Progress over perfection. PCOS is a journey, not a sprint. But with these steps, you’ll be moving in the right direction. If it feels overwhelming, maybe seek a local Ayurvedic practitioner to guide you personally. Take care!
