Addressing persistent acidity problems with Ayurvedic principles can certainly support long-term relief. Reflux, or acid peptic disorder in Ayurveda, is often linked to an imbalance in pitta dosha, which governs digestion and metabolism. This condition could indicate weak digestion or “mandagni,” alongside excess heat in the body.

First, maintaining a soft diet that helps balance the pitta is vital. Foods that are cooling, simple, and non-irritating should be the mainstay of your meals. Include ample naturally sweet fruits, tender greens, and coconut water, light grains like barley and oats. A very important ally is buttermilk—prepared by mixing a tablespoon of yogurt with four parts water, and a pinch of roasted cumin and rock salt. Drink it after meals. Try incorporating aloe vera juice (2 tablespoons with water) on an empty stomach in the morning. It soothes the stomach lining and aids in healing ulcers as well.

Simultaneously, avoid very hot, spicy, and fried foods, as well as caffeine and alcohol, which can further aggravate the pitta. Try to set regular meal times, and avoid eating too late at night.

Herbal formulations can aid in your relief too. Consider taking amalaki churna, a teaspoon infused in warm water before meals. It’s a great pacifier for the pitta dosha and supports gastric health.

It’s essential to address stress, as it directly impacts acidity levels. Regular practices of meditation, deep-breathing exercises, or yoga can substantially assist in reducing stress levels, helping with both the pain and acidity. A particular yoga asana, Vajrasana, practiced after meals might provide relief by supporting digestion.

Do consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized examination, particularly since you suspect an ulcer, as medical guidance in combining Ayurvedic and modern treatments is often warranted.

For immediate relief and proper diagnosis, please ensure you consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any serious conditions. Avoiding overuse of acidity medicine also is prudent, balance is key.
