Concerns about heart health are definitely on point, especially if you’ve experienced gastric and digestive problems. Sometimes, these issues can mimic or contribute to heart-related symptoms — it’s a real puzzle isn’t it? The good thing that you have already done is get an ECG and echo, which are key steps in ruling out serious heart issues. But, you still feel this tension, so let’s explore how Ayurveda may assist you in balancing these concerns.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms might indicate an imbalance in Pitta dosha, often linked to heat and digestive issues. Here’s what you might consider: starting with dietary adjustments. Avoiding overly spicy, sour or fried foods is a simple but crucial step, as these can exacerbate Pitta and worsen digestive woes. Add cooling, soothing foods to your meals, like cucumber, sweet fruits like cherries and melons, and leafy greens.

Incorporate herbs that are known to support digestion and reduce stress. Consider trying out trikatu, a blend of black pepper, ginger, and long pepper, which aids digestion, just make sure not to overdo it if Pitta is high. Brahmi is another herb, often recommended for calming the mind and relieving tension — a cup of brahmi tea in the afternoon can be soothing.

Stick to regular meal times, avoid skipping meals or eating late at night. This helps keep your agni (digestive fire) consistent and strong, reducing stress on your system. Balancing rest and activity is another cue. Yoga practices focus on pranayama (breathing exercises) which can help reduce anxiety and lower tension, particularly focusing on the heart.

Please don’t ignore the medical consultations you’ve started; they are a crucial part of your health management. And if any acute symptoms arise, going to a doctor is a must—don’t hesitate. Aligning Ayurvedic practices with your current medical regimen, not replacing it, can be quite beneficial for you.
