Sorry to hear about your mom, rheumatoid arthritis is tough, dealing with pain is really hard. Let’s see what Ayurveda can offer here. So first thing, RA often links to vata dosha imbalance and ama accumulation, those toxins in the body that just don’t sit well with us, you know? Pain and swelling are classic signs.

For your mom, dietary adjustments is important. Try to avoid cold, dry, and processed foods - they tend to aggravate vata. Focus on warm, moist, easy digestible meals. Soups, stews, and cooked vegetables. Add turmeric and ginger into her meals if you can, they’re anti-inflammatory heroes. Golden milk (turmeric, milk, a dash of black pepper and honey) could be a soothing evening drink for her.

Also, sleep and routine are key. Encourage her to go to bed by 10 pm, it helps balance vata dosha. Gentle yoga or Tai Chi might also help in keeping joints flexible without too much strain - but check with her doctor first just to be safe, okay?

Massage too, with warm sesame oil, especially on her joints. It helps improve circulation and reduce amma. A gentle daily self-massage can do wonders. Castor oil packs on her swollen hand may soothe and reduce inflammation.

Weight is also another thing, its can put added stress on her joints. Encourage small steps towards weight loss if she’s open to it - even gentle walking for a short time (again, her comfort comes first, so see what she’s up to).

Balancing agni - her digestive fire, might help too. Ayurvedic formulations like triphala can support digestion and removal of ama but please speak with a certified practitioner before adding herbs, ensuring no conflicts with her current meds.

Remember, you have to coordinate with specialists, ayurvedic treatments can support her journey but they don’t replace meds. If things get worse, she needs direct medical care immediately alright?
