Severe Hair loss - #21479

Preet

I have been suffering from hair loss for the past few years after my kids, it used to stop before, but now it's never ending. Due to white hair I have to use colour too. My hair fall is in lumps. I've tried using multivitamins but it's not helping this time.

It sounds like what you're experiencing might relate to dosha imbalances, potentially Vata and Pitta aggravated. Post-pregnancy hair loss is common, but persisting and lump-level hair loss suggests deeper concerns. First, it’s crucial to examine your diet, lifestyle, and stress levels as they're major players in maintaining hair health according to Ayurveda. Let’s talk about diet first. Make sure you're consuming whole, fresh foods. Your meals should contain good fats like ghee and coconut oil, as they nourish the scalp and hair roots. Reduce intake of spicy, sour, and extremely salty foods which can aggravate Pitta dosha and worsen hair fall. Including cooling and hydrating foods, like cucumber, aloe vera juice, and fresh coconut water, can balance Pitta and bring relief. Pay attention to your stress levels, as high stress can vitiate Vata, leading to hair loss. Integrate yoga and deep breathing exercises into your daily routine. Even just 10-15 minutes daily of meditation or mindfulness practice can help regulate stress-induced hair fall. Focus on your hair care routine too. Regularly oil your scalp with oils like Brahmi, Bhringraj or Amla oil; warm them slightly and gently massage to stimulate blood circulation and strengthen hair roots. Leave the oil overnight and wash your hair with a mild, natural shampoo. Coloring your hair frequently can further damage and weaken it. Try to lessen the frequency or explore natural coloring options, like henna, which provides color without harmful chemicals. But, remember to do a patch test before using henna, as some people can react to it. Additionally, don't underestimate the role of good sleep. Aim for 7-8 hours nightly, as restful sleep helps in maintaining hormonal balance. Keep your mind calm before sleep by avoiding screens and intense conversations. If despite following these, hair fall continues, you may need personalized guidance from an Ayurvedic practitioner, who might recommend herbal supplements or Panchakarma therapy based on your Prakriti and Vikruti. But, it's essential to consult before adding any supplements to avoid any contraindications.
