i have done usg last year, didn’t have anything i have been facing this issue since april.
But you face issue this year not last year…USG changes every 6 months …so please do USG WHOLE ABDOMEN WITH TFT(thyroid profile)…it’s main cause of mensis irregularity naw days
Continue pause by increasing the dose, consultation with gynaecologist is required Once it stops see your next cycle , if persist, we can then start ayurvedic medicine, once stopping excess bleed
Beta there are many reasons for prolonged mensural bleed. This is abnormal. With pause tab, take iron supplements. Along with it consult gynecologist for USG (lower abdomen and pelvis). While you do all investigations these may help regulate bleeding:
*Ashokarishta – 15 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily
*Pradarantak lauh- tablet (or 250–500 mg),Once or twice a day with Honey, ghee, or as directed
*M2 tone tablet( 2-0-2)
Will definitely help. Keep diet rich in iron rich food like fruits, chukundar, rasins etc. Dont eat spicy food or sour , hot food at all.
HELLO MONIKA, YOU ARE EXPERIENCING PROLONGED MENSTRUAL BLEEDING (15+DAYS),DESPITE TAKING PAUSE MF FOR 4DAYS. THIS CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO -HORMONAL IMBALANCE(ESTROGEN DOMINANCE,PROGESTERONE DEFICIENCY) -PCOS/PCOD -THICKENED ENDOMETRIUM OR FIBROIDS -STRESS,WEIGHT FLUCTUATIONS -THYROID DYSFUNCTION OR ANAEMIA
DO THIS TEST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE- -PELVIC ULTRASOUND(TOCHECK UTERUS,OVARIES,ENDOMETRIAL THICKNESS) -CBC -TSH,FSH,LH,PROLACTINE
START REGESTRONE 5MG 1-1-1 FOR 4 DAYS BLEEDING WILL STOPS WITHIN 48 HOURS
PAUSE MF ALONE MAY HAVE NOT WORKED -IT CONTROLS BLEEDING DUE TO VESSEL FRAGILITY BUT DOES NOT CORRECT HORMONAL IMBALANCE -SO WITH THAT TAKE REGESTRONE 5 MG AS OF NOW BUT NOT ADVISABLE TO TAKE FOR NEXT CYCLE
BEFORE NEXT CYCLE GO FOR PROPER EXAMINATION AS THIS MUCH BLEEDING WILL HARM TO YOU
SO FIRST DIAGNOSIS AND THEN TREATMENT IS VERY MUCH NECESSARY
YOU CAN START MILD AND SAFE AYURVEDIC MEDICINES TO REDUCE BLEEDING FOR NEXT CYLCE 1)ASHOKARISTA(BAIDYANATH/DOOTPAPESHWAR)- 20 ML WITH EQUAL WATER TWICE DAILY AFTER MEALS
2)PATRANGASAVA- 20 ML WITH WATER TWICE DAAILY BEFORE MEALS
3)PRAVAL PISTI+KANDUDHA RASA(PLAIN)-125 MG EACH WITH HONEY TWICE DAILY AFTER MEALS
THIS WILL HELP BALANCE PITTA, SUPPORT ENDOMETRIAL HEALTH AND REDUCE EXCESSIVE FLOW
AVOID SPICY,SOUR,FRIED AND FERMENTED FOODS EXCESS TEA/COFFEE NON VEG AND EGGS
EAT- RICE+MOONG DAL KHICHDI POMEGRANATE, BANANA,BOILED APPLE COCONUT WATER,CORIANDER WATER
-COMPLETE REST ADVISED- AVOID EXERCISE OR HEAVY LIFTING COLD FOOT BATH(ONCE DAILY,10 MINUTES)-REDUCES PELVIC HEAT AVOID STRESS
GO FOR ULTRASOUND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
THANK YOU
Hey Thankyou for the detailed response. If I were to take the regestrone and pause now…when do I start the ayurvedic medicines? And when do I go for USG?
YOU CAN START IT WITH REGESTRONE AND PAUSE MF AS IT IS SAFE AND WILL HELP IN REDUCING PERIOD FLOW AND CONTINUE THIS FOR 1 MONTH AND OBSERVE BLEEDING IN NEXT MONTH BUT YES PLEASE FOR USG ONCE BLEEDING STOPS ON 4-5 TH DAYS AFTER BLEEDING STOPS COMPLETELY GO FOR USG AFTER THAT WE CAN TREAT THIS PROPERLY TILL THEN SYMPTOMATIC TREATMENT IS GIVEN
HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

Thank you for reaching out, Mounika prolonged or delayed heavy bleeding, even after medication suggests a deeper or Monal or uterine disturbances. According to Ayurveda. We aim to regulate this gently. Start on Styplon tablets one tablet twice daily Strirasayana vati-one tablet twice daily after food with warm water Asoka aristha-40 teaspoon with equal quantity of water twice daily after food You may also take lodhrasava if flow remains high Include rice, water, pomegranate, and cow ghee in your diet Avoid source, spicy and heavy foods Take rest, reduce screen time and stay hydrated If bleeding continuous in person, evaluation is necessary for personalised care
HELLO DEAR MONIKA,
Thankyou for sharing your concern. persistent uterine bleeding that intensifies after the 5th day and continues beyond two weeks is a clear indication of ATYARTAVA in ayurvedic terms.
This often results from Rasta-pitta vitiation, Apana vata imbalance, and underlying Dhatu kshaya or hormonal disturbances.
Medicines like pause mf can arrest bleeding for short time by acting on capillary integrity, but without treating the hormonal axis and uterine tone, recurrence is likely.
#INVESTIGATIONS TO BE DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE 1)TVS(transvaginal sonography) to rule out structural causes like endometrial hyperplasia, fibroids or pcos
2)BLOOD PROFILE- CBC, tsh, lh, fsh, serum prolactin
#IMMEDIATE MEDICAL SUPPORT- to stop bleeding quickly . TAB REGESTRONE 5 MG- 1-1-1 for 4 days mostly experience relief within 48 hours. however this is only a short term fix and not suitable for repeated cycles without examination
#AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT PLAN start following combination to stop recurrent bleeding gently while restoring long term balance
1)Nagakeshar churna- 250 mg with honey= acts as a natural styptic and reduces excess menstrual flow effectively
2)Pushyanuga churna- 3gm with cold water twice daily after meals= strengthens the endometrium and controls vitiated rakta-pitta
3)Stree vyadhihari ras- 125 mg twice a day with honey=supports hormonal harmony and uterine tone
4)Sukumar ghrita- 5ml on empty stomach every morning with lukewarm water= promotes proper apana vata flow and prevents slotting or congestion in the reproductive system
#DIET RECOMMENDATIONS- encourage foods that col, nourish and support rasa and rakta dhatu
include- -musk melon, pomegranate, coconut water -bottle gourd soup , moong dal with rice -homemade rice kanji or barley water
Avoid- -red chilli, vinegar, tamarind, fermented foods -excessive caffeine, chocolates, deep fried snacks -overexertion, late nights and emotional stress -avoid travelling during this time
#LIFESTYLE SUPPORT -restorative yoga- viparita karani , supta baddha konasana -breathing techniques- sheetali pranayam, Chandra anulom-vilom -avoid heavy workouts, long screen hours, or fasting during periofs
Monika, prolonged and excessive uterine bleeding, especially in young woman with a history of irregular periods , is not just a superficial cycle disturbance - it is your body’s way of signalling internal hormonal and Doshi imbalance, most likely involving a combination of pitta aggravation, apana vata distortion and rasa rakta dhatu depletion.
when left unchecked, this type of bleeding can gradually lead to chronic fatigue, nutritional deficiencies, iron depletion anemia, hormonal axis suppression, and even affect your fertility and psychological wellbeing.
conventional medications like pause mf , regestrone may temporarily reduce bleeding through vasoconstriction , but they do not address the functional weakness of the uterus or the erratic hormonal fluctuations driving the condition.
As and Ayurvedic physician, I urge you to understand that your reproductive health is a delicate interplay of diet, stress, metabolism and emotional balance. to heal deeply and sustainably, we must work on correcting the root cause by restoring the breakage of pathogenesis. using medications herbal, rejuvenation and personalised food and lifestyle plan.
herbs like nagakeshara and pushyanug are not just hemostatic, they are medhya, garbhasya balya(uterine tonics) and correct the quality of blood, tone of uterine channels, and balance of hormonal secretions overtime .
moreover, the you resign your daily routine, menstrual hygiene , emotional regulation, and stress responses wit ayurvedic principles the body begins to repair itself naturally.
this journey is not only about stopping the current bleeding but about nourishing your reproductive fire, regulating cycles and protecting your long-term fertility and vitality. you are still in the healing phase, and with gentle ayurvedic support, mindful rest, cooling nutrition , and ongoing. monitoring, your cycles can became regular, pain-free and balanced.
I am here to support you throughout this process-and once we stop this current episode, we willl stabilise your hormonal rhythm and strengthen your uterus to prevent such episodes from returning.
hope you understand my words
thank you
Dr. Hemanshu Mehta
Based on what you’re experiencing, it looks like your menstrual cycle might be out of balance. It’s important to consider both your immediate health and the longer-term underlying causes from an Ayurvedic perspective. Since you’re describing prolonged bleeding, it would be wise to seek immediate medical attention to ensure there are no severe or urgent issues at play.
In terms of Ayurveda, prolonged or heavy menstruation can be linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, often aggravated by diet, lifestyle, or emotional stress. Here are some steps and remedies that might be beneficial for you:
Firstly, observe your diet — aim to consume cooling and Pitta-pacifying foods. Include more fresh fruits like ripe pomegranates, grapes, and melons. You can also incorporate vegetables like cucumbers, zucchini, and leafy greens. Try to avoid spicy, sour, and excessively salty foods as these can increase Pitta.
Drinking coriander seed tea might assist in balancing the pitta dosha. Boil around a teaspoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water until it’s reduced by half, and have it twice daily.
Since stress is a major factor affecting hormonal balance, consider integrating gentle and calming practices like meditation or yoga into your daily life. Even simple breathing exercises can be effective for calming the mind and body.
Incorporate Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) into your regimen — it’s known for its ability to balance Pitta and support healthy menstrual cycles. You can take Guduchi powder or tablets; follow the package instructions or consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for the right dosage.
Additionally, ensure you’re not physically overextending yourself during this time, as rest is crucial, especially during prolonged menses.
While these recommendations may help, they are a complement to proper medical consultation. Please ensure to consult a healthcare professional for a comprehensive evaluation of your condition, especially since the bleeding has continued despite medication.
