Gall Bladder Stone in Lumen. Looking For Medicine - #23068

Punita

I have a 9.5 mm stone in gall bladder lumen. I was taking allopathic medicine Ursocol for a month but then it caused inflammation in my gall bladder wall. The stone has reduced just a little bit but it pains around my gall bladder. I have discontinued the medicine. Is there any medicine in Ayurveda that I can take to dissolve my gallstone?

Addressing your concern with a gall bladder stone, Ayurveda offers several natural approaches to manage this condition, focusing on holistic well-being and balance. The first step is to understand that gallstones are often associated with an imbalance in the Kapha and Pitta doshas. This means aiding your body's natural expulsion process and supporting liver function can be beneficial. One commonly suggested option in Ayurveda is "Punarnava" (Boerhavia diffusa). This herb is known to support the gall bladder and liver function, helping to dissolve stones gradually over time. It's typically consumed in powder form, about 1/2 tsp mixed with warm water, twice daily. However, ensure you are consulting with a local Ayurvedic practitioner to get the dosage right and assess compatibility with your body type and condition. Another remedy often used is "Gokshura" (Tribulus terrestris). Its properties can help in breaking down the gall stones, when taken regularly. It is regularly consumed as a decoction—boil 1 tsp of Gokshura powder in a cup of water until it reduces to half twice daily may be beneficial. But always ensure that there are no interactions with your ongoing treatments. Alongside herbal aids, dietary modifications play a crucial role. Focus on maintaining a low-fat, high-fiber diet. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables, particularly those with high water content like melons and cucumbers which can help dilute bile and prevent stone formation. Avoid fried foods, processed snacks, and reduce oily, salty, and sour food intake as they can aggravate Pitta dosha. Hydration is key—keeping an adequate intake of warm water can assist in flushing out toxins and stones from the system. You may add a pinch of turmeric or a squeeze of lemon to enhance its detoxifying properties. Regular physical activity, whether it be gentle yoga postures or brisk walking, is advisable to maintain overall digestive fire and reduce Kapha accumulation. Practices such as Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) and Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) might be beneficial, yet they should be performed under guidance to prevent strain. It's essential to proceed with caution as pain persists around the gall bladder. If symptoms escalate or not improve, it's prudent to seek immediate medical intervention to prevent complications. Ayurveda can support management and relief, but professional advice ensures the best-fitting approach to a safe recovery.
