can we eat poha in loose motion - #24174

Isabella

I am really confused about what to eat, like, I’ve been having these loose motions for a few days now and it’s really starting to get on my nerves. My mom suggested making poha since it’s light and easy to digest, but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea?? I mean, can we eat poha in loose motion? I feel like I need something, but every time I try eating solid foods, it just feels off. The last time I tried something heavier, it didn’t end too well...ugh. Anyway, poha sounds good, right? I heard it’s good for your stomach and can help with digestion or whatever, but I also read somewhere that certain foods can make things worse. Should I just stick to something bland like plain rice or toast instead? I dunno, just trying to figure this all out before I make it worse. Would love any advice from you guys on this, especially if you have suggestions for easy meals or things to avoid while dealing with this mess.

In terms of Ayurveda, dealing with loose motions involves soothing the aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas, which are typically out of balance in such conditions. It sounds like you've been struggling with this and might be cautious about how to adjust your diet. Indeed, eating in such a state should be about lightness and easy digestion. Poha, or flattened rice, can actually be a suitable option during loose motions. It's light, soft, and generally easy on the stomach, provided it's prepared in a way that aligns with your current digestive requirements. When you prepare poha, keep it simple; avoid adding heavy or too many spices. Think about lightly cooking it with a small amount of turmeric and adding a pinch of rock salt to balance the doshas. These can actually help to strengthen your agni, or digestive fire, without aggravating the symptoms. However, if every solid food is feeling off right now, you might need to stick to even simpler options temporarily. Plain rice stewed into a thin porridge could be a safer choice initially. It's particularly calming on your digestive system. Adding a bit of ginger or cumin may support a weakened agni, but again, use them sparingly to avoid any irritation. Hydration is crucial here, so keep sipping warm water or mild herbal teas like fennel or ginger tea to stay hydrated and support digestion. Avoid the foods that could further irritate your gut like heavy dairy products, fried foods, or anything too spicy or cold. If your symptoms persist for more than a few more days, consider reaching out to a healthcare professional. Sometimes prolonged loose motions can cause dehydration and weaken the body's systems, posing a risk if not addressed properly. Remember, it's crucial that the treatment follows the specific needs and signs your body is showing you!
