Addressing black scars and dark shades on the skin, especially on the shoulders, can be effectively managed through Ayurveda. This involves understanding the root cause, which often relates to the balance of doshas, primarily Pitta. Here are some recommendations: To begin with, applying herbal products can aide the lightening of scars over time. Consider using Kumkumadi Tailam, a traditional Ayurvedic oil known for its skin-rejuvenating properties. Typically, it's applied at nighttime, left on the skin for at least 30 minutes, then washed off. Make sure to gently massage the oil onto the affected areas in a circular motion, enhancing blood circulation. Another beneficial herb is Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia), it can be used as a decoction or paste. You can make a paste by mixing Manjistha powder with honey and apply it directly to the scars about 15-20 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. This might help in reducing pigmentation over consistent use. Neem (Azadirachta indica) is also excellent for skin health. You could incorporate neem capsules as a supplement, take them as per the product recommendations. Topically, neem oil can be diluted and used for application on the skin every few days. In addition to these topical treatments, maintaining a diet that supports skin health is crucial—drinks plenty of water, consume cooling foods, like cucumber and cilantro, that balance pitta and avoid spicy or hot foods. Furthermore, ensure a routine for proper cleansing. An ubtan made from chickpea flour, turmeric, and milk can cleanse and gently exfoliate the skin, best used during bathing. Avoid stress, and practice daily yoga as stress can aggravate skin conditions, yoga also promotes better blood circulation improving skin health over time. Keep in mind that while these measures can help, it's important that these treatments are consistent and approached with patience. If the condition persists or causes significant distress, consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized approach, ensuring that it aligns with any current treatments or conditions she may have.
