is mastrubation is harmful for bones - #39239
I am really confused about a thing that's been bothering me lately. My best friend just told me that, like, is mastrubation is harmful for bones, and I’m there thinking, seriously? I mean, I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager and I’ve never noticed anything wrong with my bones or anything else for that matter. I even had a health check-up a couple of months ago, and everything was fine. But now I'm worried because, come on, my bones are important! Just to give you some context, I play basketball and getting down with the pain of sore muscles is one thing, but if I have to worry about my bones too, that’s just too much! I've had some joint pain but it could be from the back-to-back games, right? Or am I missing something? I guess I want to know, does excessive mastrubation really affect our bones or lead to any problems down the line, or is it like one of those things people say that has no scientific backing? I tried looking up some stuff online, but found all sorts of conflicting info! Experts, should I change my habits, or am I worrying about nothing here? A bit of real insight would help. Thank you!

Mastrubation, when done in moderation, generally doesn’t pose risk to bone health or lead to any significant physiological harm. Ayurveda and modern medicine, both don’t indicate a direct correlation between mastrubation and bone density or health. It’s natural, and while exaggerated claims suggest it drains vital energy or affects dhatus, including asthi dhatu (bone tissue), these are mostly myths. The idea likely stems from a misunderstanding of Ayurvedic principles regarding ojas (core vitality), which may be seen as drained by excessive indulgence in sexual activities, but not specifically harm bones.
Your joint pain could very well be related to your frequent basketball games rather than mastrubation. Repeated high-impact activity can stress joints, leading to discomfort or injuries over time. Ensure your diet supports healthy bone and joint function, focusing on calcium-rich foods such as sesame seeds, almonds, greens, and dairy products. Include warming spices like turmeric and ginger in your meals to naturally reduce inflammation.
For joint health from an Ayurvedic perspective, consider massaging your joints with Mahanarayana taila or Bala taila. Gentle yoga poses such as Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) or Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) may also help in maintaining flexibility and strength. Relaxation and restorative practices like meditation and Pranayama can enhance your body’s healing capacity and improve overall well-being.
Remember to listen to your body. If pain persist, especially if it affects your daily activities, consult a healthcare professional. Ultimately, balancing your lifestyle between activities, rest and nutrition is key. Your everyday life can impact your overall energy balance, so ensure you’re getting sufficient rest, managing stress, and enjoying a wholesome diet tailored to your dosha type for best results.
