In Ayurveda, acne primarily reflects an imbalance in the doshas, often a combination of increased Pitta and Kapha. At your daughter’s age, hormonal changes can amplify these effects. Addressing her skin concerns requires a holistic view—diet, lifestyle, and topical care.

Start by adjusting your daughter’s diet to balance Pitta and Kapha. She should avoid foods that increase these doshas like spicy, oily, and sugary foods. Instead, integrate Pitta-pacifying foods—cooling and light items such as cucumbers, coriander, mint, and certain fruits like pears or apples. Meals should be regular, satisfying without overindulgence.

Hydration is key. Suggest she drink warm water throughout the day, aiding detoxification and supporting her digestive fire or ‘Agni’. Herbal teas with ingredients like fennel or cumin can also help.

For internal remedies, consider Ayurvedic herbal supplements such as ‘Guduchi’ or ‘Neem’ which are known for their detoxifying properties. ‘Nimba’ and ‘Manjishtha’ are beneficial too. It’s crucial, however, to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any supplement, particularly in children, to ensure safety and correct dosing.

Topically, she might benefit from a paste made from sandalwood and rose water applied to affected areas—it’s soothing and can reduce redness. Avoid harsh scrubs or heat on her skin; gentle cleansing with warm water suffices.

Encourage lifestyle modifications as well. Adequate sleep and stress management—through activities like simple yoga poses or pranayama (breath work) such as ‘Nadi Shodhana’—foster overall balance. Stress can exacerbate acne, so ensuring she maintains a relaxed routine is crucial.

If acne persists despite these measures, consult an Ayurvedic doctor for personalized guidance. Balancing doshas at her developmental stage is delicate; professional advice can make a significant difference.

Acne in teenagers can often be attributed to hormonal changes and imbalances in the body’s doshas, particularly pitta dosha. In Ayurveda, addressing the root cause like diet, lifestyle, and adjusting the internal balance can be crucial in managing acne effectively.

For your daughter, start by focusing on cooling the body and balancing the pitta dosha. One effective homemade remedy is to encourage her to drink coriander seed water. Boil one teaspoon of coriander seeds in water, let it cool, and give it to her to drink daily. This can help in reducing the excess heat in the body.

Dietary changes are also beneficial—suggest avoiding spicy, oily, and fried foods, as these can aggravate the pitta dosha. Encourage a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly those that are cooling, such as cucumbers and watermelons. Including aloe vera juice in her daily routine can also benefit her as it’s known for its cooling and anti-inflammatory properties.

For an Ayurvedic syrup, you might look for formulations like “Saribadyasava,” which is commonly recommended for skin conditions and helps in purifying the blood. Make sure to follow the dosage instructions on the bottle and consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner if necessary.

Application of external remedies can also help soothe and heal the skin. Consider applying a paste made of neem powder and turmeric mixed with a little water directly on the acne spots. Leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing off.

Lastly, maintaining a regular skin cleansing routine with a mild, natural cleanser is important. Ensure she cleans her face twice daily to remove excess oils and dirt that can exacerbate acne. Encourage her to develop a habit of not touching her face frequently to reduce the risk of transferring bacteria.

Attention to lifestyle, diet, and gentle skincare should help in managing the acne over time. However, if the acne persists or worsens, seek guidance from a healthcare professional to rule out underlying health issues.
