Doctors' responses

For enlarged prostate and issues with erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE), Ayurveda offers holistic approaches that focus on balancing the doshas, particularly vata and pitta, as they are often involved in these conditions. Begin with incorporating triphala churna nightly, around half a teaspoon with warm water. This supports digestive health and helps with detoxification, which could aid in reducing prostate enlargement.

Considering your weight, managing agni, or digestive fire, is vital. Ginger and cumin tea can be consumed twice daily to enhance metabolism and support urinary function. Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) may be quite beneficial for its prostate-supportive and aphrodisiacal properties. Taking it in capsule form, about 250 mg twice a day, could be helpful, though it’s best to consult with a local practitioner to adjust dosage as needed.

For ED and PE, Ashwagandha stands out. Use it in powdered form, perhaps half a teaspoon mixed with warm milk in the evening, as it strengthens ojas and dhatus fundamental for sexual health. Shatavari powder, about one teaspoon in the morning with water, can also support hormonal balance and rejuvenate the reproductive system.

Dietary modifications play a crucial role. Eating warm, easily digestible meals and incorporating aphrodisiac foods like almonds, pumpkin seeds, and figs is recommended. Avoid overly spicy, acidic foods that can aggravate pitta and vata.

Exercise moderately, focusing on yogic practices like Vajrasana and Kegel exercises to enhance pelvic floor strength. Incorporating pranayama, especially Nadi Shodhana and Bhramari, can calm the mind and balance doshic energies.

Finally, ensure that any herbal supplements don’t interfere with medications you may already be taking for the prostate condition. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting new treatments to ensure they’re safe and appropriate for your health needs.

Enlarged prostate and issues like ED (erectile dysfunction) and PE (premature ejaculation) often come from imbalances in the body, particularly with the vata dosha. First, it’s important to mention that seeing a healthcare provider to monitor the prostate condition is crucial. However, within the Siddha-Ayurvedic framework, there are ways to support your body and help balance these imbalances.

You might start with guggulu preparations such as “Triphala Guggulu,” which can support prostate health by aiding to reduce inflammation and promoting proper elimination. Take it as advised by an Ayurvedic practitioner, generally twice a day with warm water is a broad guideline.

Ashwagandha is another herb you might consider, as it can help with stress, which affects vata and has benefits for both prostate health and general vitality. It can be taken as a powder, around 1/2 teaspoon mixed with warm milk or water at night.

Since issues with ED and PE are closely linked to both physical and mental stress, incorporating regular relaxation practices like pranayama can be beneficial. Especially focus on nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), doing around 5–10 minutes daily to help balance vata.

Be cautious with diet as well. Try to minimize heavy, dry, and raw foods which can aggravate vata, and instead eat warm, cooked meals with spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric. Avoid caffeine and alcohol which may trigger symptoms further.

Remember, these suggestions should complement regular medical advice, not replace it. Keep an eye on changes in symptoms and always consult a healthcare provider for serious conditions.
