The itchy and ticklish sensation near your parotid gland could be related to an imablance in your body’s doshas. In Ayurveda, such manifestations are often associated with an excess of the Pitta dosha, which can lead to skin irritations or reactions. The fact that it’s alleviated by anti-allergy medication and occurs predominantly at night also suggests a possible allergic reaction, but from an Ayurvedic perspective, the root cause might also involve dietary habits or environmental factors that disturb your balance.
Firstly, assess your current diet and lifestyle, as what you eat can contribute to Pitta imbalance. Consider reducing spicy, oily, and sour foods. Favor cooling and calming foods like sweet fruits (such as pears and grapes), natural sugars like honey, and natural cooling herbs like coriander and fennel. Also, increase your intake of fresh leafy green vegetables as they help pacify pitta and cleanse your system. Necessary to take food that is warm, not hot.
Hydration is also key; consume plenty of water throughout the day to keep skin hydrated. Include herbal teas, especially those with chamomile or peppermint infusions which help in balancing the body’s internal heat and reducing irritation.
For immediate local relief, you can apply a cooling paste on the affected area made from sandalwood powder mixed with rose water. This has a soothing effect on itchy skin. Ensure you apply this in the evening to calm the area before sleep.
In terms of lifestyle, try to avoid exposure to extreme heat, such as hot showers or saunas, as it aggressive to pitta. Also, practice stress-reducing activities, such as gentle yoga or meditation, particularly in the evening to wind down.
Please, remember if symptoms persist or worsen, consulting with a healthcare professional, especially one knowledgeable in dermatological issues, is advised. While Ayurveda offers great tools for balance, acute or severe conditions sometimes require specialized medical intervention.
