Doctors’ responses

Namaste. Dry eyes indicate Vata imbalance and lack of lubrication. Ayurvedic Management: Internal Remedies: Take Triphala Ghrita (1 tsp daily) to nourish eyes. Drink warm milk with a pinch of turmeric at night. External Remedies: Use Anu Tailam (1 drop in each nostril) to balance Vata. Wash eyes with Triphala decoction daily. Diet: Include ghee, almonds, and vitamin A-rich foods like carrots.

Dealing with post-op eye dryness and those pesky blisters can be super irritating. If your eyes are feeling dry like a desert, Ayurveda often sees it as a sign of Vata imbalance. Windy, dry, and cold by nature, Vata tends to dry things out in the body. But don't worry, Ayurveda has all kinds of soothing remedies up it's sleeve that might help. First off, think about incorporating some Triphala eye wash into your routine. You can make a decoction by boiling a teaspoon of Triphala powder in water, let it cool down completely, and then strain it. Use this gentle wash twice daily. It's quite soothing for tired eyes and helps to nourish them. On the nourishment front, ghee is your friend. Consuming a teaspoon of ghee every morning on an empty stomach can be beneficial. Ghee is deeply nourishing and lubricating from the inside out. And it doesn't taste so bad either! For those painful blisters, you might try applying a drop or two of rose water as eye drops. Rose water is calming and might soothe both dryness and irritaton. Make sure it's 100% pure to avoid any chemicals wandering into your eyes. Diet-wise, keeping hydrated is key. Sip on warm water throughout the day and include omega-rich foods like flaxseeds and walnuts. They're rich in fatty acids that might support eye health. Try also some palming exercises. Just rubbing your hands together till they warm up and placing them over your eyes for a few minutes can do wonders in terms of calming and heating up the Vata. But if you notice changes in vision, severe pain, or the symptoms are just not letting up, it's wise to follow up with a doctor pronto. The post-op stage can sometimes get a bit tricky, and it's important to keep your safety first. It'll hopefully ease out soon with a bit of consistent care!
