HELLO, Hidrandenitis suppurative (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects the hair follicles and sweat glands, especially in areas like the armpits, groin, buttocks , and under the breasts. It causes painful lumps , abscess pus filled boils, and tunnels (sinus tract) that sometimes ooze blood or pus and may leave scars WHY IT HAPPEN? -hair follicles get blocked - inflammation occurs - bacteria grows inside - the immune system overreacts leading to chronic infection and tissue daage Ayurveda sees HS as a condition arising from vitiation of -Pitta dosha= causing heat, inflammation, and pus - Kapha dosha= causing blockage, swelling , and stickiness - Rakta dhatu= becoming impure and inflamed Overtime, this imbalance creates “Dusta vrana”(chronic wounds) and “granthi/ pidika” (sinus tracts) The deeper cause is ama (toxins)- undigested waste from food, stress, and poor digestion - which circulates in the blood, deposits under the skin, and blocks the sweat glands TREATMENT GOALS -Detoxify the body- remove toxins and purify the blood -reduce inflammation and infection- control pitta and kapha dosha - heal existing lesion- promote healthy would healing -prevent recurrence- strengthen immunity -restore digestion and metabolism- because poor digestion is the root cause INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) KAISHOR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 3 months =purifies blood, reduces chronic inflammation and pus 2) AROGYAVARDHINI. VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals for 3 months = improves liver function, clears internal toxins 3) GANDHAK RASAYANA = 1 tab twice daily after meals for 3 months = acts as natural antibiotic and skin detoxifir 4) GUGGULU TIKTAKA GHRITA= 1 tsp with warm water before meals for 6 weeks = deep detoxifier , balance pitta and kapha 5) MAHAMANJISTHADI KASHAYA= 20 ml with warm water twice daily after meals for 3 months = blood purifier, reduces inflammation 6) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime =keeps digestion and bowel clean, prevents toxin buildup EXTERNAL TREATMENT LOCAL CLEANING -NEEM-TURMERIC DECOCTION = Boil 10-15 neem leaves + 1/2 tsp turmeric in 1 L of water. cool it. use this gently wash the affected area 2-3 Times daily =kills bacteria , dried pus, reduces itching LEPA (HERBAL PASTE) - Home = mix triphala powder + turmeric + aloe vera gel into a paste apply for 30 min, then wash =draws out the pus, soothes pain and reduces swelling MEDICATED OILS -Jatyadi taila= apply twice daily after washing = promotes wound haling, deodorants or. tight clothing around the armpit If condition is long standing deep cleansing- Panchakarma will help a) Raktamokshana -leech is applied near the affected area. Hello Abhay, I get how awful and annoying Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) can be. Those recurring boils in your armpits don’t just hurt physically, they can also mess with your head and make you feel self-conscious. You’re not the only one dealing with this, and the good news is that you can get it under control and feel a lot better with the right Ayurvedic stuff and by changing up your habits.

What Ayurveda Says About HS

In Ayurveda, HS is kind of like Dushta Vrana / Pidaka / Apachi. It’s mainly caused by: * Your Pitta and Kapha doshas being out of whack * Your blood being dirty * Sweat and oil glands getting blocked

This all leads to: * Heat + infection + toxins building up = those painful boils and abscesses

AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

INTERNAL MEDICATION

1.Arogyavardhini Vati – Take 1 tablet two times a day after meals → Cleans your liver and blood, calms swelling

2.Gandhak Rasayan – Take 1 tablet two times a day after meals → Kills bacteria good, helps skin infections heal

3 Khadirarishta – Mix 20 ml with the same amount of water and drink it two times a day after you eat. → Cleans your blood, stops it from coming back

4.Triphala Churna – Take ½ tsp with warm water before bed. → Helps your gut and gets rid of toxins

EXTERNAL CARE Make a paste out of: * Neem powder + Turmeric + Coconut oil

Put it on the boils gently two times a day.

This will: * Make it hurt less * Keep the infection in Check * Stop scars from forming

If there’s pus, clean the area with: 👉 Triphala mix (boiled and cooled water)

DIET PLAN

Stay Away From:

* Fried stuff * Cheese * Junk food * Bakery things * Sugar * Non-veg * Smoking / alcohol

Eat More Of:

* Warm, fresh food * Moong dal * Bitter veggies (karela, neem leaves) * Turmeric milk * Tons of water

LIFESTYLE

* Don’t shave your armpits (just trim the hair) * Don’t wear tight clothes * Keep the area dry * Don’t pop the boils * Walking or sweating a bit everyday helps get rid of toxins

When it Hurts (Quick Fix) If the pain is really bad: 👉 Put a warm turmeric water compress on it for like 10 minutes, two times a day.

HS isn’t a quick fix, but Ayurveda tries to fix the source of the problem, not just give you temporary antibiotics.

Don’t Forget It won’t go away overnight, but most people (like 80–90%) feel way better for a long time if they stick to the treatment and eat right.

If Things are Really Bad You might also need: * Panchakarma (Virechana or Raktamokshana) with someone watching over you to really clean things out.

You don’t have to live with this pain forever. HS gets better when: * Your blood is clean + your gut is happy + the swelling chills out Stick with it for 3 months and you’ll see a real change.

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a painful and frustrating condition and when it continues for months it usually indicates deep seated inflammation blood impurity and blockage of sweat glands rather than a simple skin infection From an Ayurvedic understanding this develops due to excess heat in the body disturbed blood tissue and weak digestion which allows toxins to accumulate and express through the skin so treatment has to work from inside as well as outside Internal medicines help reduce inflammation and recurrence Gandhak rasayan 250 mg twice daily after food with warm water supports healing of chronic boils and reduces infection Manjistha churna half teaspoon with warm water twice daily after meals helps purify blood and calm inflammatory activity Neem capsule 500 mg once daily after food helps control bacterial overgrowth and supports skin recovery If there is burning sensation acidity or heat in the body Avipattikar churna half teaspoon at night with warm water helps regulate digestion and reduces internal heat Local care is equally important The affected area should be cleaned gently with lukewarm water without scrubbing or squeezing the boils Apply Jatyadi taila or Panchavalkala ointment in a thin layer twice daily to reduce pain discharge and support wound healing Keep the area dry avoid tight clothing and reduce friction as much as possible Dietary discipline plays a major role Spicy fried oily junk foods excess sugar dairy sour and fermented foods worsen inflammation and delay healing Simple home cooked meals light grains green vegetables and adequate warm water intake support recovery Smoking if present strongly aggravates this condition and stopping it makes a significant difference Pain and discharge usually start reducing within one to two weeks when treatment is followed consistently Recurrence reduces over the next few months This condition does not resolve instantly but with regular internal support external care and dietary correction it can be brought under good control and quality of life improves steadily

✔️ Diet changes (VERY IMPORTANT) Avoid (these worsen HS inflammation): Sugar & sweets Fried food Dairy (milk, cheese) Bakery / refined flour Junk & fast food Include: Green leafy vegetables Fruits (papaya, apple, berries) Turmeric (anti-inflammatory) Omega-3 sources (flaxseed, walnuts) Plenty of water 💧 ✔️ Weight & sweat control Even small weight reduction improves HS Avoid excessive sweating Change clothes if sweaty 🧠 STRESS = HS FLARES Stress directly worsens HS. Try: Deep breathing Gentle yoga Adequate sleep Emotional support (HS affects mental health too) VERY IMPORTANT TRUTHS ❌ HS does not heal permanently in days ✅ Pain can reduce in days–weeks with proper treatment ❌ Home remedies alone are not enough ✅ Long-term control is possible 💊Medication💊 External For pain & swelling (very important) Warm compress 👉 Warm (not hot) cloth on armpits ⏱️ 10–15 min, 3–4 times/day ✔️ Helps pus drain naturally & reduces pain ❌ Avoid squeezing or popping boils – it worsens scarring Local care (daily routine) Wash area once daily only Use alum crystal Use mild, non-fragrant cleanser Use lukewarm water Keep area dry Wear loose cotton clothes Avoid shaving / waxing during active boils Internal Cap. Marvin 2 caps twice a day before food Cap. Sorajit 2 caps twice a day before food Tab. Arogyavardhini Vati 2 tabs twice a day before food Syp. Sarivadhyasav 3 tsp twice a day after food
