HELLO, FIRST IMPORTANT SAFETY CLARIFICATION For a 7 year old child, self formulated mixtures containing multiple herbs + Mukta pishti + pravala pishti + Godanti Bhasma should NOT be given. REASON -Pishti and bhasma are herbs mineral preparations -dose errors can cause digestive disturbance, calcium overload, headache, constipation, or long term metabolic issues In Ayurveda, ADHD corresponds mainly to -vata pradhana manovikara Involvement of -Prana vata (attention, focus) -Udana vata (speech, impulsivity) -Sadhaka pitta (emotions, intellect) -Tamas + rajas imbalance Because symptoms are present > 6 months, this is a chronic vata disorder, not acute VACHA= improves speech, attention , reduces tamas SHANKHAPUSHPI= medhya, calming, improves learning BRAHMI= memory, focus, neuroprotective JATAMANSI= excellent for impulsivity, anxiety, sleep These ARE appropriate for ADHD, but dose and proportion matter a lot. Vacha dose must be very low in children MUKTA PISHTI AND PRAVAL PISHTI -cooling, calm mind, useful if= irritability, anger, heat, hyper reactivity Should be used in very small dose Not needed in all ADHD children GODANTI BHASMA= NOT ROUTINELY REQUIRED -Used mainly for -fever -headache -excess pitta -NOT ROUTINELY INDICATED FOR ADHD -20 mg added to mix is not appropriate Godanti Bhasma should NOT be added unless there is clear indication ANSWER TO YOUR SPECIFIC QUESTION CAN YOU GIVE 1 SMALL SPOON MORNING AND EVENING WITH GHEE AND WATER? -No, not safely -small spoon is not a precise paediatric dose -comined quantity 100gm herbs + pishti is too concentrated RISK OF -digestive upset, over sedation -mineral excess IS 20 GM GODANTI BHASMA REQUIRED -No, It should not be added in routine ADHD management SAFER AYURVEDIC APPROACH TAKE -Brahmi= 2 parts -Shankhapushpi= 2 parts -Jatamansi= 1 part -Vacha= 1/4 part only DOSE FOR 7 YEAR OLD -1/4 tsp once daily after meals with warm water OR a few drop of ghee + honey (not mixed together, give separately) -observe for 2-3 weeks before increasing IF MINERAL SUPPORT IS NEEDED -Mukta pishti or Praval pishti= 15 mg once daily with honey -do not mix into large bulk powders DIET -warm, freshly cooked meals -ghee small daily amount -milk at night with nutmeg pinch -almond paste soaked, peeled AVOID -refined sugar -chocolate -cold drinks -fried/packaged foods -excess screen time LIFESTYLE AND BEHAVOUR SUPPORT You are already doing behavioural therapy- excellent Ayurveda works best alongside it, not instead of it ALSO HELPFUL -fixed routine (very important for vata) -early bedtime GENTLE YOGA -vajrasana -balasana -Slow nasal breathing HOW LONG TREATMENT IS REQUIRED? -Minimum 3-6 months -Noticeable improvement often seen in —sleep first —then irritability —then attention span Herbs you chose are conceptually correct Current formation and dosing are not safe for a child Godanti Bhasma should not be added use simpler, lower dose, stepwise approach DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Dont use these medicines continuously in a 7 year old child. For mild ADHD 1. Dwiguna drakshadi kashayam - twice daily, before food - This is available for Sreemed as sachet so take 1 sachet i.e. 2gm from this take 1 gm and dissolve in 40ml luke warm water, divide this 40ml into 2, thus give 20ml in morning and the rest 20ml in the evening. 2. Mentat tab 1/2 tab at night 3. Avipathy churna 1/2 teaspoon with honey 4. Vilwadi gulika 1/2 at night Do SHIRO PICHU with Ksheerabala taila + Dhanwantaram taila - for 7 days. Do early morning by 6 am. Never do it after 8am. You may get videos in youtube how to make the cotton pad for pichu. First double boil the 2 oils in taken in equal quantity and then soak the cotton pad in it. After checking the temp. please it over the scalp of the child. Day 1 : 10 MIN Day 2 : 15 min Day 3 : 20min Day 4 : 25 min Day 5 : 20 min Day 6 : 15min Day 7 : 10min after this time apply Rasnadi churna - dont do head wash on these 7 days. After 7 days stop this Shiropichu

Try practicing Surya Namaskara and meditation every day. Do this for 14 days. Review after as personal consultation

No,do NOT give this mixture as described. At 7 years old (very sensitive age), this combination is too strong, heating and heavy for a child. Vacha (very hot/pungent) + Jatamansi + high dose bhasmas (Mukta/Prawal/Godanti) can cause irritability, acidity, loose motion or overheating in children. Total 100 gm brain herbs + 40 gm bhasmas in one mix = adult-level potency is unsafe for child brain/nervous system. ✓Safe & Recommended for Mild ADHD (7 yrs) Only these gentle options (start one at a time, low dose: Brahmi Vati (plain, not gold) – ½ tablet (125–250 mg) once daily morning with honey/water Shankhpushpi Syrup – 5 ml once daily (morning or evening) with water Mandukaparni Churna – 500 mg (½ tsp) once daily with honey/water (excellent for focus & calmness) Jatamansi Churna – only 250–500 mg night (if very hyperactive, optional) Godanti Bhasma / Mukta Pishti / Praval Pishti Do NOT add 20 gm Godanti or any bhasma in daily mix for a 7-year-old. ✓How to give safely Start one herb only (e.g., Shankhpushpi syrup 5 ml/day) for 7–10 days. If no loose motion, sleepiness or irritability < add second herb slowly. Give after food with honey/water (never empty stomach). Maximum 6–8 weeks continuous → then 2-week break. ✓Other supportive things Daily 10–15 min Anulom-Vilom or deep breathing (with child) No screen 1 hour before sleep Early dinner, early sleep (9–10 PM) Reduce sugar, maida, artificial colors, packed food ✓Most important Behavioural therapy + school support is still the strongest long-term help for mild ADHD. Yes, these herbs (Vacha, Shankhpushpi, Brahmi, Jatamansi, Mukta pishti, Praval pishti) are traditionally used in Ayurveda for memory, focus, and calming mind, but dose is very important in children, especially age 7 years. Important Points Do NOT give 1 small spoon of this mixture – This dose is too high for a child. Do NOT add 20 gm Godanti Bhasma – That quantity is unsafe and unnecessary for ADHD support. Safe doseage Mixed powder total dose 250 mg to 500 mg twice daily only Give with ghee + honey or warm water Godanti Bhasma Usually not required for ADHD Mainly used for fever, headache, calcium support

-Godanti bhasma is not routinely required for ADHD. Usually used for fever, headaches, or pitta conditions, not attention issues. Adding 20 g to a mixture is NOT a child-safe approach. For children, doses (if prescribed at all) are usually pinch-sized, not gram-level additions. -Vacha also needs caution in children -Brahmi or Shankhpushpi alone, in very small dose can be given

Ok

Hello Thanks for checking in before starting that combo – it shows you care about your kid. YOUR CONCERN That mix you mentioned (Vacha + Shankhpushpi + Brahmi + Jatamansi + Mukta Pushti + Praval Pishti + Godanti Bhasma) is NOT a good idea for a 7-year-old at the levels you’re thinking. Why? ✅ Vacha (Acorus calamus) –It’s strong and can really get the brain hyperactive Kids can get: –Hyperactive –Irritable –Have trouble sleeping –Get heartburn 👉 Too much can make ADHD worse ✅ Mukta Pushti + Praval Pushti —These are calcium Kids need tiny amounts, and a doctor should figure that out. –Too much can cause: –Constipation –Kidney issues –Calcium problems 10 gm is way too much ✅ Godanti Bhasma –It’s for fever and cooling down the brain. –Kids shouldn’t get it every day. –And never a lot! –20 gm is like a medicine overdose. ADHD, the Ayurveda Way Your child’s got: Too much Vata + Rajas throwing things off balance Which leads to: –Racing thoughts –Trouble paying attention –Acting without thinking –Big mood swings The brain needs: – Good food – Calm – A gentle push ❌ Not strong herbs or heavy minerals A SAFE ADHD MIX for a 7-year-old Fresh powder mix: Brahmi 50 g Shankhpushpi 50 g Jatamansi 25 g ++Yashtimadhu (Licorice)++ 25 g ❌ No Vacha ❌ No Mukta ❌ No Praval ❌ No Godanti How much: ½ teaspoon Morning and night With ½ tsp ghee + warm milk or water This will: –Help with paying attention –Calm things down –Help with memory –Help with sleep –Ease anxiety –Without hurting your child More good things for ADHD: Do: –Daily oil massage (feet and head) –No screens after sunset –Protein + ghee in meals –Regular bedtime You did the right thing by asking first! Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Yes, the combination you mentioned is useful for mild ADHD symptoms because Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Jatamansi and Vacha are Medhya Rasayana herbs which help improve concentration, calm hyperactivity and support brain development. But instead of mixing many powders at home, it is safer and more effective to use a ready balanced formulation. 1) Medhya Rasayana Syrup – This is one of the best options because it already contains Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Jatamansi, Vacha and other brain-nourishing herbs in proper proportion and child-friendly form. It helps improve focus, calmness, memory and sleep quality. 5 ml morning and evening after food. - Can be given with a small quantity of ghee or lukewarm water. Mukta Pishti and Praval Pishti should be used only in very small supervised doses. Adding Godanti Bhasma routinely is not required unless there is specific indication. 2) Brahmi Ghrita 1/2 spoon twice a day with food for brain nourishment Diet plan for ADHD child - - Warm fresh homemade food. - Cow ghee daily in small quantity. - Soaked almonds (2–3), dates, milk if digestible. - Moong dal, rice, seasonal fruits. - Avoid chocolate excess, sugar, cold drinks, packaged snacks, artificial colors. Lifestyle modification - - Fixed daily routine and early sleep. - Reduce screen time. - Daily outdoor play. - Gentle abhyanga (oil massage) with Brahmi or Bala oil 2–3 times weekly. - Deep breathing or simple yoga under guidance.

I UNDERSTAND YOUR INTENTION TO SUPPORT THE CHILD NATURALLY HOWEVER THIS EXACT COMBINATION AND DOSE IS NOT SAFE TO GIVE DIRECTLY TO A SEVEN YEAR OLD WITHOUT PROPER MODIFICATION AND CLOSE SUPERVISION THE MIXTURE YOU MENTIONED CONTAINS MULTIPLE MEDHYA HERBS ALONG WITH MINERAL PREPARATIONS WHICH REQUIRE VERY CAREFUL PEDIATRIC DOSING ONE SMALL SPOON MORNING AND EVENING IS TOO HEAVY FOR A CHILD OF THIS AGE AND CAN OVERLOAD DIGESTION AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM ESPECIALLY WHEN VACHA JATAMANSI AND MINERAL PISHTIS ARE COMBINED TOGETHER THIS MAY LEAD TO IRRITABILITY POOR APPETITE SLEEP ISSUES OR GASTRIC DISCOMFORT MUKTA PISHTI AND PRAVAL PISHTI SHOULD BE USED ONLY IN VERY TINY MEASURED QUANTITY IN CHILDREN USUALLY A PINCH ONCE DAILY AND ADDING TEN GRAMS INTO A COMMON POWDER IS NOT ADVISED AS DOSE CONTROL BECOMES DIFFICULT GODANTI BHASMA SHOULD NOT BE ADDED ROUTINELY UNLESS THERE IS A CLEAR INDICATION AND EVEN THEN THE CHILD DOSE IS VERY SMALL AND NOT TWENTY GRAMS MIXED IN BULK FOR A MILD ADHD CHILD IT IS SAFER TO KEEP THE FORMULATION SIMPLE WITH BRAHMI AND SHANKHPUSHP I AS THE MAIN SUPPORT AND IF REQUIRED VACHA OR JATAMANSI CAN BE USED IN VERY SMALL PROPORTION OR IN A CHILD FRIENDLY FORM LIKE GH RITA GHEE CAN BE USED BUT ONLY IN MINIMAL QUANTITY AND AFTER ASSESSING DIGESTION TREATMENT SHOULD BE DONE FOR ABOUT TWO TO THREE MONTHS WITH REGULAR OBSERVATION OF APPETITE SLEEP BOWEL HABITS AND BEHAVIOR AND MINERAL PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE INTRODUCED ONLY AFTER SEEING THE RESPONSE TO HERBAL SUPPORT ALONE

One small spoon morning and evening is too much for a child and can overload digestion and the nervous system especially when vacha jatamansi and mineral preparations are mixed together This can lead to irritability poor appetite sleep disturbance or loose motions Mukta pishti and praval pishti should never be added in bulk quantity to a common powder for children The child dose is very small usually just a pinch once daily and only when clearly indicated Adding ten grams makes dose control difficult and unsafe Godanti bhasma is also not routinely required in adhd and should not be added as twenty grams in the mix If ever needed it is given in a very small measured dose for specific symptoms and under supervision For a mild adhd child it is better to keep the formulation simple Brahmi and shankhpushpi can be used as main support and if required vacha or jatamansi can be used in very small quantity or in a child friendly form Ghee can be used but only in a very small amount after checking the child digestion and stools Treatment should be continued for about two to three months with regular observation of appetite sleep bowel habits and behavior Mineral medicines should be introduced only after seeing the response to herbal support alone

I need to be very clear here: giving a combined powder of Vacha, Shankhpushpi, Brahmi, Jatamansi, Mukta Pishti, Praval Pishti, and Godanti Bhasma to a 7‑year‑old child with ADHD is not safe without direct pediatric Ayurvedic supervision. 🌿 Safer Ayurvedic Options for Mild ADHD (child‑friendly) (Always under pediatric Ayurvedic guidance) - Brahmi syrup: 2–3 ml once daily with water. - Shankhpushpi syrup: 2–3 ml once daily with water. - Mandukaparni (Gotu kola): Sometimes combined with Brahmi for focus. - Ashwagandha (very mild dose): 1 g powder with milk, only if digestion is strong. 🧘 Supportive Non‑Herbal Measures - Routine: Fixed sleep/wake times, balanced meals. - Diet: Warm, freshly cooked food; avoid excess sugar, packaged snacks. - Yoga for kids: Simple breathing (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) and playful poses. - Learning practice: Short, rhythmic sentences, visual aids, and repetition.
