Can Ayurveda Help with Allergies After Using Cetirizine Tablet?

1 answers

For the past few months, I’ve been struggling with severe allergies, mostly sneezing, runny nose, and constant itching around my eyes and throat. My doctor suggested cetirizine tablet to control these symptoms. I started taking it regularly, and it did help in reducing the allergic reactions, but now I feel like I’ve become dependent on it. If I skip a dose, the allergy symptoms return worse than before. Since taking cetirizine tablet, I’ve also noticed that I feel drowsy and sluggish throughout the day. Even after a full night’s sleep, I wake up feeling exhausted. My mouth feels dry all the time, and sometimes, I get mild headaches. Is this normal after using cetirizine tablet? I also feel that my digestion is getting weaker—my appetite is low, and I often feel bloated after meals. Now I’m wondering if Ayurveda has a natural way to manage allergies without relying on cetirizine tablet. Are there herbs or remedies that can work on allergies in a more permanent way? Also, could there be some underlying imbalance in my body that’s making me allergic to dust and seasonal changes? Is there an Ayurvedic detox or diet that can help me stop taking cetirizine tablet and manage my allergies naturally? Would love to get advice on how to slowly reduce my dependence on cetirizine tablet and heal my allergies with Ayurveda.

Your allergy symptoms—sneezing, itching, and runny nose—point to an excess of Kapha and Vata, which Ayurveda sees as the root cause of seasonal allergies. Cetirizine provides temporary relief but doesn’t address the underlying imbalance, which is why the symptoms return stronger when you stop taking it. Instead, Ayurveda focuses on boosting immunity, clearing toxins (Ama), and strengthening digestion (Agni) to provide long-term relief. Turmeric (Haridra) with honey, Trikatu (a blend of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper), and Tulsi tea can help reduce allergic reactions naturally. Nasal drops (Anu Taila or ghee in the nostrils) can prevent allergens from triggering symptoms. Your drowsiness, dry mouth, and weak digestion suggest that the medication is affecting your body's natural balance. To detox from its effects, start your day with warm water and lemon, followed by a light, Kapha-balancing diet. Avoid dairy, cold foods, and excess sugar, as they increase mucus. Eat warm, cooked meals with ginger, cumin, and black pepper to strengthen digestion. Regular intake of Amla (Indian gooseberry) can help boost your immunity and prevent recurrent allergies. Practicing Jal Neti (nasal cleansing with saline water) can also clear nasal passages and reduce sensitivity to allergens. To gradually reduce your dependence on cetirizine, focus on strengthening your immune response with Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha and Guduchi (Giloy). Managing stress through meditation and deep breathing (Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari) can also help, as stress weakens immunity and makes allergies worse. Over time, with these lifestyle and dietary changes, your body will become less reactive to allergens, allowing you to stop relying on antihistamines. Would you be open to starting with herbal teas and a simple Ayurvedic detox?

How does Allegra work, and what are natural alternatives in Ayurveda for allergies?

1 answers

I’ve been dealing with seasonal allergies for as long as I can remember. Every spring and fall, I suffer from a stuffy nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes. I usually take Allegra, an antihistamine, which helps to reduce the symptoms of allergies, but I don’t want to keep relying on it every allergy season. Allegra has worked for me, but I don’t like the idea of being dependent on medications that often come with side effects like dry mouth and drowsiness. I’ve been looking for more natural ways to deal with allergies, and I came across some information suggesting that Ayurveda might have natural remedies for managing allergy symptoms. I’m curious to know—how does Ayurveda address allergies? Is there a natural way to treat nasal congestion, itchy eyes, and sneezing without using antihistamines? In Ayurveda, I know that Kapha dosha is associated with mucus production, and I wonder if imbalanced Kapha could be contributing to my allergies. Could Ayurveda offer specific herbs, oils, or dietary changes to help balance Kapha and reduce the symptoms of allergies? I’ve read that Turmeric, Tulsi, and Nasya oil can be helpful for allergy relief, but I’m not sure how to use them properly. Also, are there any Ayurvedic practices like Pranayama (breathing exercises) or nasal irrigation that can help improve my respiratory health and immune system naturally? I’m looking for a long-term solution that will help me stay symptom-free without relying on medication. If anyone has found relief from allergies using Ayurveda, I’d love to hear your experiences and any herbal remedies that worked for you.

Ayurveda offers several natural approaches to managing seasonal allergies by balancing the body's doshas and addressing the root causes of symptoms like congestion, sneezing, and itchy eyes. Since Kapha dosha is linked to excess mucus production, an imbalance in Kapha could indeed be contributing to your allergy symptoms. To balance Kapha, Ayurveda suggests incorporating herbs and practices that help clear excess mucus and support respiratory health. Turmeric, with its anti-inflammatory properties, can help reduce the inflammation associated with allergies, while Tulsi (Holy Basil) is known for its immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory qualities, making it effective for relieving nasal congestion and respiratory discomfort. Nasya oil, which involves applying medicated oil to the nasal passages, can help clear sinuses and improve breathing. Ayurveda also recommends Pranayama (breathing exercises) like Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) to calm the mind, reduce stress, and promote better lung and respiratory function. Nasal irrigation using a neti pot with a saline solution is another Ayurvedic practice that can clear nasal passages and relieve congestion. Additionally, a diet that reduces Kapha (heavy, oily, and cold foods) while promoting lighter, warm, and spicy foods can help manage allergic reactions. If anyone has tried Ayurvedic remedies or practices to manage allergies, it would be great to hear how they worked and any tips for incorporating these approaches into daily life.

What to do to cure cold and dust allergies?

1 answers

I face sneezing problem along with burning eyes during all the year and it increases during seasonal change. I take allopathy medicine all through the year. Can it be cured?

Your symptoms indicate Vata-Kapha imbalance leading to respiratory hypersensitivity. Ayurvedic treatments can help reduce dependency on allopathy over time: Daily Remedies: Herbal Steam: Add Tulsi or Eucalyptus oil to hot water and inhale. Nasya: Apply 2 drops of Anu Tailam in nostrils every morning. Sitopaladi Churna: Mix 1 tsp with honey and take twice daily for respiratory support. Diet: Avoid cold, fried, or heavy foods. Include warm soups, ginger tea, and turmeric milk. Long-Term Solution: Practice Panchakarma, specifically Basti and Virechana, under guidance. Use Chyawanprash to strengthen immunity. Consult an Ayurvedic doctor for a tailored plan.

How To Use Fitkari For Tooth Pain

My toothache has been bothering me for a week now, and I don’t want to keep taking painkillers. I’ve heard that fitkari (alum) can help, but I’m not sure how to use fitkari for tooth pain. Is it safe to use directly on the affected tooth, or does it need to be diluted? I’ve tried clove oil in the past, but it didn’t work very well for me. How to use fitkari for tooth pain is something I’d like to understand better because I don’t want to make things worse. Should it be used as a rinse, or do I need to apply it as a paste? Also, is there a chance fitkari might irritate my gums? Another thing is that the pain seems to come and go, but when it hits, it’s sharp and unbearable. Can fitkari provide instant relief, or does it take time to work? I also have some sensitivity to cold and hot foods. Will learning how to use fitkari for tooth pain help with that, or should I look for another remedy? If anyone here has tried fitkari for tooth pain, please share your method and experience. Did it help, and how long did it take to notice a difference?
