Is it common to not feel pregnant at 14 weeks into a pregnancy? - #21670

I am feeling really confused right now and need some insights from you guys. So, I thought I was finally getting into this groove of being pregnant, but here I am at 14 weeks and I literally don't feel pregnant. Like, at all! I mean, shouldn’t I be feeling something by now? It's my first pregnancy, so, maybe I'm just overthinking it. I have read so many things online but still feel lost. In the beginning, there were the usual symptoms— sickness, tiredness you know, all that. But it was never that intense, and now it sorta just... faded. I don't have that morning sickness much anymore, and I’m not even feeling cravings like I thought I would. Maybe I expected too much?? I sometimes compare myself to my friends who were like moaning and groaning about their symptoms, but mine seem to have just disappeared. I guess I'm just wondering, is it normal to not feel pregnant at 14 weeks? I’ve had my check-ups, and the doctors say everything looks good! Heartbeat was fine on the last ultrasound, and I know I shouldn't be worried. But still, I can't shake off this feeling of uncertainty. Every time I read stories about other women feeling their bumps or getting kicks around this time, I just feel left out. Could it be my body just being different? I've tried some yoga and really working on staying healthy, but I just don't feel that connection like others talk about. Last week, I was freaking out and thought something could be wrong, but then I remember hearing so many people saying that each pregnancy is super unique. Ugh! Should I just chill, or is there something to worry about? Would love to hear from those who have been through this. Is it normal to not feel pregnant at 14 weeks, or should I be looking for specific signs? Or maybe it's just one of those things with pregnancy where everyone experiences things differently? Just wish I had more solid answers. Sometimes I think about reaching out to my doctor again, but I don’t want to sound paranoid. Thanks for letting me ramble! I'm really just looking for some stories from other moms or maybe even some insight from professionals so I can get through this phase feeling a bit more assured. Hope to hear from you soon!

It’s very normal for you to not feeling like pregnant in 14 weeks of pregnancy. Let’s understand first that each individual is different and their pregnancy journey is different… It’s a matter of timely antenatal checkups for the foetal growth and well being…

Around the end of first trimester the difficulties of the initial days were seemed to reduce in majority of the pregnant women .Now you may feel little more energetic in terms of activities and also food habits… It’s quite normal that you dont feel any specific food cravings… As some women dont feel like that, and is considered as normal …About the baby movements… It’s bit early for you to identify the baby movements in 14 weeks as the baby is still very small and especially you are first time pregnant and your belly muscles will be tight… It will be felt little more early when you are on your second pregnancy… You will start to feel your baby’s tiny movements around 20 weeks. That movements also will not be felt like kick…it will be like a bubbling or fluttering sensation on your lower abdomen at first and you can feel it more when your baby grows little more by time being… Now you have to focus on your routine checkups if that is showing every thing is normal nothing to worry…understand that preganancy is a physiological processs. Your body will get adjusted to the change… Dont worry too much…Just be careful… And don’t forget to visit your doctor for the regular checkups and if any adverse symptoms are observed.

Eat healthy… stay calm

Enjoy your motherhood… All the best wishes…

It indeed can be quite typical not to feel “pregnant” at around 14 weeks, especially if your earlier symptoms have eased and you’re in that middle stage of pregnancy where the body’s busy adapting to changes, but visibly things might be calm. During the 2nd trimester, many women notice a reduction in earlier pregnancy-related issues like nausea or fatigue, because the body has somewhat adjusted to hormonal shifts. So yes, this phase you’re experiencing can be completely normal.

In Ayurveda, your experience could be tied to how your body constitution or “Prakriti” might be handling the pregnancy. If your natural dosha is balanced and your agni or digestive fire is strong, you might not face as intense symptoms. Pregnancy can manifest for each woman differently; for some, it might mean fewer dramatic experiences, and that doesn’t necessarily indicate anything is wrong.

However, it’s wise to maintain a supportive routine that nurtures your body. Daily self-care practices like simple yoga asanas for pregnancy, along with gentle pranayama, can help keep you connected to your body. A sattvic diet rich in fresh fruits, cooked vegetables, whole grains, and light proteins, maintaining regular sattva, rajas and tamas, can support balanced nutrition and digestion. You might also want to keep warm, soothing teas, like ginger or cumin, to aid digestion and calm.

Regarding concerns, remember, while some women might start feeling fetal movements around this time, many do not typically notice them until later, sometimes as late as 20 to 24 weeks, especially during a first pregnancy.

But if you ever feel like something is amiss, always reach out to your healthcare provider. Trust your instincts, as they’re paramount in pregnancy. It’s completely valid to seek reassurance when you need it, for peace of mind is also important. Misunderstanding this journey is common, so lean on your healthcare team whenever you feel unsure.
