Doctors' responses

Hi Laila, It can due to the thyroid issue and your age factor can be one reason too. I would advice you to have 1. Hamsapadiyadi Kshayam 2 tsp with 2 tsp water Twice a Day 2. Medohar Guggul 2 Tab Twice a Day 3. Manasamitra Vati 2 Tab at Night

Find a Panchakarma centre nearby and Go for one Panchakarma procedure that is Udvartana (Massage of body with medicated powders in opposite direction to hair follicles). This is widely used in reducing excess fat from the body.

HELLO LAILA,

Your body is made up of three vital energis- vata, pitta, and kappa called doshas When these are balanced , the body fells energies, light, calm an functions well When they go out of balance, various problems arise

In your case

1) Kapha dosha has increased- leading to heaviness, eight gain, sluggish metabolism, slow digestion, laziness , and difficulty losing weight

2) Vata dosha has also become disturbed- causing poor sleep, restlessness, irregular heartbeat , dryness, anxiety, and exhaustion

3) Digestive fire is weak- this means food is not properly digested, leading to formation of toxins that Block energy flow in the body

4) Ama (toxin buildup ) slows metabolism and causes constant fatigue, brain fog, and a feeling of being “stuck” or heavy

Because of these imbalances, your body is unable to convert food into pure energy. The thyroid gland, heart rhythm, and sleep all depend on balanced doshas and strong agni

TREATMENT GOALS -increase digestive and metabolic fire -reduce toxins -balance kapha= reduce weight, heaviness, and water retention -calm vata= improve sleep, relax the nerves system, and steady heart rhythm -Supprot thyroid and heart rhythm -rebuild strength and energy

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) KANCHANAR GUGGULU= 1 tab twice daily after meals for 3 months =balances thyroid hormones, removes glandular swelling, clears ama and kapha from tissues

6) JATAMANSI CAPSULE = 500mg at bedtime = natural sleep promoter, reduces vata, helps calm mind and improves rest

7) TRIKATU CHURNA= 1/3 tsp before meals with honey = improves metabolism, burns ama, increases digestive fire

DURATION= 2-3 months

EXTERNAL TREATMENT

1) OIL MASSAGE with warm sesame oil daily =improves blood flow, calm vata, reduces fatigue, nourishes nerves and skin

2) MILD STEAM after oil massage =opens pores, remove toxins, lightens body, improves sleep

3) NASYA= instill 2 drops of Anu taila in each nostril in morning =clears head channels, improves sleep, reduces stress and fatigue

LIFESTYLE CHANGES -wake up early before sunrise if possible -drink warm water with lemon and a pinch of dry ginger or cumin -do milk stretching or walking in fresh air -perform oil massage before bath -avoid sleeping during the day- it increases kapha and slows metabolism -go to bed early by 9:30 - 10 pm

MIND AND SLEEP -keep mind calm before bed- avoid TV or phone -warm milk with nutmeg or a pinch of turmeric helps relaxation -listen to soft instrumental or chanting before sleep

Your fatigue, poor sleep, and weight gain are not only thyroid related- they are the result of. overall metabolic and energetic imbalance

By improving digestion, removing toxins and calming the mind yo can gradually regain strength , better sleep, and lighter body weight

The process is gentle but powerful- changes are felt within 4-6 weeks if followed consistently

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

Chronic fatigue, along with poor sleep and weight challenges, can be deeply interconnected, especially with thyroid concerns. In Ayurveda, these symptoms may indicate an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which can lead to sluggish metabolism and retention issues.

First, prioritizing adequate sleep is crucial. Aim at a regular sleep schedule, retiring by 10 PM when the body’s natural rhythms potentially align with Kapha time, fostering rest. Try Ashwagandha or Brahmi in a warm milk before bed to promote restful sleep.

Your diet is another area of focus. Consider favoring warm, light, and easily digestible foods. Avoid cold, heavy, and oily foods that may agitate Kapha. Incorporate ginger tea in the morning and before meals to stimulate digestive fire (agni). Try to eat your main meals by early afternoon, aligning with your body’s peak digestion time. Drink warm water throughout the day to aid metabolism and detoxification.

Physical activity adjusted to your capacity is essential. Gentle yoga or pranayama in the morning can help balance energy and improve flexibility, while stimulating metabolism. Walking after meals aids digestion and combats lethargy.

For thyroid health, Ayurveda suggests herbs like Guggul or Guduchi, but their introduction should be supervised by an Ayurvedic professional, considering your ongoing medication.

Additionally, to ensure that your thyroid levels and medications are monitored regularly. Communication with your primary healthcare provider is key to address potential adjustments necessary due to lifestyle and diet changes. Immediate medical consultation is needed if fatigue worsens or other severe symptoms occur.

The symptoms you describe, including fatigue, lack of energy, poor sleep, and difficulty losing weight, may point towards a kapha imbalance, possibly exacerbated by vata disturbances due to age and underlying thyroid issues. Addressing the root cause is essential, and as you’re on thyroid medication, it’s important to work alongside your healthcare provider for any integrative approaches.

For diet, emphasize warm, light, and well-spiced foods to ignite your agni (digestive fire) and balance kapha. Incorporate ginger, turmeric, and black pepper into your meals. Avoid heavy, oily, and excessively sweet or salty foods that can aggravate kapha. Opt for smaller, more frequent meals to maintain stable energy levels throughout the day.

Physical activity, even in moderation, can help. Gentle movement, like walking or yoga, can improve circulation and enhance energy. Aim for 20-30 minutes a day of activity that is comfortable yet invigorating.

For sleep, establish a consistent routine. Try to wind down an hour before bed with calming activities like reading or meditation. Drink a cup of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom before bed — this can naturally promote relaxation and better sleep.

To support thyroid function, consider including iodine-rich foods in moderation, such as seaweed, unless contraindicated by your doctor. Also, focus on hydration with warm water throughout the day to cleanse ama (toxins) from your system.

However, given your symptoms and age, it’s especially important to discuss these strategies with your healthcare provider before making any significant changes. If you experience worsening symptoms or other health concerns, seek medical attention promptly.
