URETHRAL NARROWING USUALLY DEVELOPS DUE TO OLD INFECTION INJURY LONG STANDING IRRITATION OR SCARRING AND MEDICINES CAN HELP ONLY WHEN THE CONDITION IS MILD OR IN EARLY STAGE

IN SUCH CASES MEDICINES ARE GIVEN TO REDUCE INFLAMMATION IMPROVE URINE FLOW AND PREVENT FURTHER NARROWING YOU MAY BE ADVISED VARUNA BASED MEDICINES AND GUGGULU PREPARATIONS ALONG WITH URINARY SUPPORT SYRUPS OR DECOCTIONS AS PER INDIVIDUAL CONDITION

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DRINK ADEQUATE WATER THROUGH THE DAY DO NOT HOLD URINE FOR LONG HOURS AVOID ALCOHOL SPICY FOOD VERY SOUR FOOD AND EXCESS TEA COFFEE

KEEP BOWELS CLEAR DAILY CONSTIPATION PUTS EXTRA PRESSURE ON URINARY PASSAGE LIGHT WALKING AND AVOIDING PROLONGED SITTING ALSO HELPS

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IF THE NARROWING IS SEVERE OR URINE FLOW IS VERY POOR MEDICINES ALONE MAY NOT BE SUFFICIENT AND UROLOGIST INTERVENTION MAY BE NEEDED ALONG WITH SUPPORTIVE CARE

FOR PROPER GUIDANCE THE EXACT SEVERITY OF THE NARROWING URINE FLOW DETAILS AND ANY PREVIOUS PROCEDURES ARE IMPORTANT

WITH RIGHT COMBINATION OF CARE DIET AND MONITORING MANY PEOPLE DO FEEL SYMPTOMATIC RELIEF AND BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE

it is important to understand that a stricture is a physical scar tissue narrowing the pipe. Medicines alone often cannot dissolve a fully formed scar, but they can improve flow and prevent it from getting worse.

Ayurvedic Prescription 1. To Dilate and Soften the Stricture Chandraprabha Vati: 2 tablets twice daily. Time: Before food with warm water.

Kanchanar Guggulu: 2 tablets twice daily. Time: After food.

2. To Improve Urine Flow Gokshuradi Guggulu: 2 tablets twice daily (After food).

Varunadi Kashayam: 15ml mixed with 45ml warm water (Twice daily, empty stomach).

3. The Uttar Basti Therapy (The Real Cure) Oral medicines are supportive. The most effective Ayurvedic treatment for stricture is a procedure called Uttar Basti.
Medicated oil (Apamarga Kshara Taila) is instilled directly into the urethra by a specialist.
Benefit: This oil chemically dissolves the tough scar tissue and dilates the passage naturally, often avoiding the need for surgery. You should consult a local Ayurveda specialist for this.

If you experience total blockage (inability to pass urine) or severe pain, go to the Emergency Room immediately for a catheter. Do not wait for medicines to work.

A urethral stricture is a physical narrowing (scar tissue) of the urine passage. 👉 No tablet, syrup, or herb alone can permanently remove an established stricture. Medicines are used only to: Reduce infection Reduce inflammation Improve urine flow temporarily Prevent worsening after procedures Definitive treatment is usually urological (medical procedure).

A urologist may advise: Urethral dilation Optical internal urethrotomy (OIU) Urethroplasty (surgery) – best long-term cure for old strictures 👉 For a 45+ year old, long-standing stricture, surgery often gives the best permanent result.

1️⃣ Internal Medicines 1. Gokshuradi Guggulu Dose: 2 tablets (500 mg each) Time: Twice daily After food With: Lukewarm water ✔ Improves urine flow, reduces obstruction feeling

2. Chandraprabha Vati Dose: 2 tablets Time: Twice daily After food With: Lukewarm water ✔ Best for urinary tract disorders, burning & infection prevention

3. Punarnavadi Kashayam Dose: 15 ml Mix with: 15 ml warm water Time: Twice daily Before food ✔ Reduces inflammation & supports bladder function

4. Varunadi Kashayam (if urine flow is weak) Dose: 15 ml With: 15 ml warm water Once daily (morning, empty stomach) ✔ Supports urinary passage & bladder emptying

2️⃣ Local Therapy (Very Important) Uttara Basti (ONLY by experienced Ayurvedic doctor) Medicine used: Kshara Taila / Bala Taila Frequency: Once weekly or as advised ✔ Helps prevent worsening of narrowing ⚠️ Do NOT attempt at home

3️⃣ Diet (Pathya – MUST FOLLOW) ✅ Recommended Warm water throughout the day Rice, wheat, bottle gourd, ridge gourd Coconut water (once daily) Buttermilk (thin, unsalted) ❌ Avoid completely Spicy food, chillies Alcohol, smoking Excess tea/coffee Very sour & fried food Holding urine for long time

4️⃣ Lifestyle advice Do not strain during urination Avoid long bike riding Keep genital area clean Manage constipation (important)

Hello I hear you. Dealing with a urethral stricture after 45 isn’t easy—it’s uncomfortable, stressful, and the symptoms can really wear you down. If you’re struggling with a weak urine stream, straining, burning, or constant infections, you’re definitely not alone. The good news? Ayurveda can help manage your symptoms and slow things down, but let’s be real: it has its limits.

Here’s what you’re facing:

Age: Over 45 Issue: Urethral stricture Common symptoms: - Thin or weak urine stream - Straining while peeing - Feeling like your bladder never fully empties - Burning or discomfort - Sometimes, those annoying repeat infections

How Ayurveda sees it:

This is called Mutramarga Sankocha or Mutraghata in Ayurveda. It usually comes down to aggravated Vata dosha (which leads to narrowing, dryness, or scarring) and sometimes Pitta (which brings on burning and inflammation). Old infections, injuries, surgery, or catheter use can leave scars that narrow things even more.

Here’s the honest part:

Once a scar or stricture forms, medicines alone won’t open it up. Ayurveda helps by cutting down inflammation, boosting urine flow, fighting off infections, slowing things from getting worse, and supporting you after surgery if you need it.

Before you start any treatment, make sure you know: - Exactly where and how long the stricture is - How severe it is—mild, moderate, or severe

You’ll need a few tests: - Uroflowmetry - RUG (Retrograde urethrogram) or cystoscopy - Urine routine and culture

The goal: - Get urine flowing better - Ease the burning and discomfort - Stop those infections from coming back - Keep your urinary tract healthy - Help healing if you need dilation or surgery

Ayurvedic approach:

- Gokshuradi Guggulu: 1 tablet, twice a day after meals. Helps flow, eases irritation.

- Varunadi Kashayam: 15 ml with the same amount of warm water, twice daily. Good for urinary health and inflammation.

- Chandraprabha Vati: 1 tablet, twice a day after food. Classic for urinary issues.

- Punarnava Mandura: Only if there’s swelling or infection, and only if your doctor prescribes it.

Remember: These help manage symptoms. They don’t “fix” a fixed stricture.

External support:

- Basti therapy (done under supervision): Matra Basti (oil enema) helps calm Vata and gets things working better. - Sitz bath: Warm water sitz bath daily to ease spasms and make you more comfortable.

Diet and lifestyle:

Avoid: - Spicy, salty foods - Alcohol and smoking - Holding your pee too long - Dehydration

Do more of:

- Lots of warm water - Coconut water (if you’re not diabetic) - Rice, veggies, moong dal - A little ghee

- Ayurveda supports and stabilizes - Medicines alone can’t reverse a fixed stricture - Best results come from teaming up urology and Ayurveda

Urethral stricture in your case is due to vata and kapha aggravation in the urinary passage causing narrowing of urethra weak urine flow and occasional burning sensation this makes bladder muscles weak and urine retention more likely treatment in Ayurveda focuses on reducing inflammation strengthening the urinary passage improving urine flow and preventing recurrence

You can take gokshuradi guggulu 2 tablets twice daily after meals with lukewarm water to support urethral and bladder tone and reduce inflammation take chandraprabha vati 2 tablets twice daily after food to improve urinary tract function reduce frequency burning and mild obstruction add varunadi kwath 15 ml twice daily after meals with equal warm water to cleanse urinary passage and improve urine flow if there is mild burning or irritation during urination take punarnavadi ghan vati 2 tablets twice daily after meals to reduce inflammation prevent fluid retention and support kidney and bladder health avoid cold drinks ice water fried spicy and oily foods keep bladder warm and empty urine completely whenever possible gentle massage over lower abdomen and perineum with warm sesame oil before sleep improves circulation and reduces vata in urinary tract regular practice of mild pelvic floor exercises can also help strengthen urethral muscles improvement usually starts within 3 to 4 weeks with consistent medicine and lifestyle care

HELLO,

The urethra is the thin tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body. In urethral stricture, this tube becomes narrowed, stiff, and less elastic.

Why does it narrow? • Old infections • Injury or catheter use • Surgery • Long-standing inflammation • Aging-related dryness and scarring Because of this narrowing: • Urine flow becomes weak • You feel strain while passing urine • Bladder may not empty fully • Burning or repeated infections can occur

In Ayurveda this condition is related to: • Mutramarga Sankocha (narrowing of urine passage) • Mutrakrichra (difficulty in urination) • Mutraghata (obstructed urine flow) Main Dosha Involved • Vata Dosha (primary) → causes dryness, narrowing, loss of elasticity • Pitta (secondary) → burning, inflammation, pain • Kapha (chronic stage) → thickening, fibrosis, scar tissue

In simple words: Dryness + inflammation + hard scar tissue = narrowing of urine pipe

Why Medicines Alone Are Sometimes Not Enough • A stricture is a physical narrowing, like a tight ring • Medicines cannot melt hard scar tissue • Ayurveda works best to: • Reduce inflammation • Improve urine flow • Nourish tissues • Prevent worsening • Prevent recurrence after surgery/dilation So treatment goal is management, not miracle cure.

Treatment Goals 1. Improve urine flow 2. Reduce burning, pain, and infections 3. Prevent further narrowing 4. Improve tissue healing 5. Support bladder function 6. Reduce need for repeated surgeries (if possible) 7. Improve quality of life

INTERNAL MEDICINES Duration: Usually 3–6 months

1. Chandraprabha Vati= 2 tablets twice daily after food=Improves urine flow, Reduces burning and inflammation ,Strengthens urinary system, Balances Vata and Pitta 2. Gokshuradi Guggulu =2 tablets twice daily after meals = Supports urinary passage, Reduces obstruction tendency, Helps bladder empty properly 3. Varunadi Kashaya= 15 ml + equal warm water, twice daily before food =Reduces thickening and hardness, Helps chronic urinary obstruction, Supports tissue metabolism 4. Kaishore Guggulu = 2 tablets twice daily after meals = Useful in long-standing inflammation ,Reduces scar-forming tendency, Blood purification 5. Shilajit (Purified) =250 mg once daily with warm milk morning = Improves tissue strength ,Supports healing ,Useful in age-related degeneration

6. PANCHAKARMA (MOST IMPORTANT PART) Basti Therapy (Medicated Enema) This is the main Ayurvedic treatment because: • Vata dosha controls urine flow • Colon is the main seat of Vata Types: • Anuvasana Basti (oil-based) • Niruha Basti (decoction-based) Benefits: • Softens dryness • Improves tissue elasticity • Reduces stiffness • Helps prevent recurrence Done only by trained Panchakarma doctor Usually given in a course of 8–16 days

Uttar Basti (Special Procedure) • Medicated oil introduced into urethra • ONLY for mild cases • Done with extreme care • Not for severe strictures

EXTERNAL TREATMENT • Abhyanga (oil massage) with Bala Taila / Sahacharadi Taila • Lower abdomen & back • 3–4 times per week =Improves circulation, Reduces Vata dryness

DIET • Warm, soft, freshly cooked food • Rice, wheat, moong dal • Bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin • Cow’s ghee (1–2 tsp/day) • Coconut water (if no infection) Foods to Avoid Spicy food Fried food Alcohol Smoking Excess tea/coffee Junk food

LIFESTYLE CHANGES • Do not hold urine • Avoid dehydration • Avoid excessive sexual activity • Reduce stress (stress worsens Vata) • Regular sleep

YOGA & PRANAYAMA Yoga Asanas • Malasana • Pawanmuktasana • Bhujangasana • Setu Bandhasana Pranayama • Anulom Vilom • Bhramari • Deep abdominal breathing ⏱️ 15–20 minutes daily

SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES • Warm water throughout the day • Coriander seed water (if burning present) • Avoid cold water suddenly Home remedies do not cure stricture, only support comfort.

INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED To assess severity: • Uroflowmetry • RUG / MCU • Ultrasound KUB • Urine routine & culture These help decide: • Mild / moderate / severe stricture • Need for surgery or not

WHEN SURGERY IS NECESSARY Ayurveda cannot replace surgery when: • Urine flow is very weak • Recurrent urine retention • Severe narrowing on imaging Best results come from integrated approach: Modern procedure + Ayurvedic support

• This is a chronic condition • Early care prevents complications • Ayurveda helps manage, not magically cure • Proper guidance improves quality of life • Never ignore worsening urine symptoms

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
