After TURP, it’s common to have: -frequent urination -urgency -temporary incontinence -------But this usually improves steadily over a few weeks. However, in your father’s case: -symptoms started 2 weeks post-op -a Klebsiella infection was confirmed -symptoms have persisted >4 weeks total -he has low energy + poor appetite -------That combination strongly suggests the infection (or its consequences) is driving the symptoms, not just normal post-surgical recovery. ----- do tests repeat urine culture & sensitivity (to confirm current resistance pattern) checking post-void residual urine (is he emptying fully?) ----Prescription: 1) Syp Neeri 15 ml twice daily after food with water 2) Chandraprabha Vati 2 tablets twice daily after food 3) Gokshuradi Guggulu 1 tablet twice daily after food 4) Punarnava Mandur 1 tablet twice daily after food -----Pathya (Diet Advice): Light, warm, easily digestible diet Barley water / moong dal / rice gruel Adequate oral fluids Avoid spicy, sour, fermented foods ----Advice: Continue urologist advised antibiotics as per culture sensitivity Regular follow-up required If fever, worsening weakness, or urinary retention → immediate review ----- have these medicines for 15 days then review ----- if possible have the oral tab with gokshuradi kwath
In Ayurveda, this condition involves a disturbance of Apana Vata (the energy governing downward flow and excretion) and Mutravaha Srotas (the urinary channels), often accompanied by Pittaja inflammation due to infection •Gokshuradi Guggulu: 2 bd after food with normal water A classical herbo-mineral formulation that acts as a natural diuretic and antimicrobial. It helps soothe the urinary mucosa and clear toxins Chandraprabha Vati: 2 bd after food with normal water Often considered a “sarvaroga hara” (curer of all diseases) for the urinary tract. It helps reduce inflammation and strengthens the bladder muscles •Ushnodaka (Warm Water): Paradoxically, drinking adequate warm water helps “flush” the system. Avoid very cold water, which can aggravate Vata and cause bladder spasms. •Avoid “Vidahi” Foods: Stay away from spicy, salty, and sour foods (like pickles and chilies) which irritate the bladder lining. •Pelvic Floor Support (Ashwini Mudra): While Kegel exercises are the modern equivalent, the gentle practice of Ashwini Mudra (rhythmic contraction of the anal sphincter) can help regain control over the pelvic region. Note: Ensure he does this gently and only if there is no acute post-surgical pain
After TURP surgery, urinary frequency and temporary incontinence can persist for some weeks due to bladder irritation and healing. However, resistant Klebsiella infection can delay recovery and continue causing symptoms. Since only 3 doses of fosfomycin are remaining, complete the antibiotic course exactly as advised by the treating doctor. Improvement may take some more time after infection control. Keep hydration adequate but avoid excess fluids at night. Avoid tea, coffee, and very spicy foods. Bladder training and pelvic floor exercises can help gradually improve control. Your current Ayurvedic medicines are supportive and can be continued for now. Continue NEERI syrup 15 ml twice daily Continue Chandraprabha vati 2-2 after food Continue Gokshuradi Guggulu 1-1 after food Varunadi kwath – 15 ml with equal water twice daily can also be added If symptoms worsen, fever develops, or urine retention occurs, immediate urologist review is needed. Otherwise, some gradual improvement over the next few weeks is expected after infection settles. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
After TURP and resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infection, frequency and leakage may take few weeks to improve. Complete remaining fosfomycin and repeat urine culture. Take Chandraprabha Vati 2 tabs twice daily after food Gokshuradi Guggulu 1 tab twice daily after food Varunadi Kashayam 15 ml with warm water twice daily before food Barley water daily Avoid tea, coffee, spicy food. If fever, burning, blood urine, or worsening leakage occurs, consult urologist immediately.
