Hi i have a question about my wife’s health. During her second delivery, she had a lot of stress on her kidneys. Later, a doctor told us that her kidneys are not working properly and that there is protein leakage in the urine. We are worried and want to know whether this condition can be improved or reversed. Could you please suggest the best Ayurvedic treatment and the best diet for her? She is allergic to lemon, so please exclude lemon from any food or diet advice. We would also appreciate guidance on foods and lifestyle habits that may help her stay healthy and return to normal daily life.

In Ayurveda, we view the postpartum mother as a Sutika. During delivery, there is an extreme aggravation of Vata Dosha (due to the physical exertion, blood loss, and sudden empty space in the abdomen) alongside a temporary disruption of Pitta Dosha and Agni (metabolic fire). 1.Punarnava aasav:15mlBD with same amount of water after food True to its name (which means “that which makes new again”), Punarnava is the premier herb for kidney rejuvenation. It reduces swelling (edema), improves the glomerular filtration rate, and helps reduce protein leakage. 2.Gokshuradi guggulu : 1-0-1 after food with normal water.A gentle diuretic and rejuvenator that soothes the urinary tract membrane, helping to heal the micro-filters of the kidneys without draining the body’s energy 3.Chandraprabha Vati : 1-0-1 after food with normal water .Classical formulations often prescribed under guidance to improve metabolism, manage blood pressure, and control albumin/protein loss. ••Favor Easy-to-Digest Carbohydrates: Well-cooked red rice, basmati rice, or soft millets like kodo. ••Balanced, Mild Proteins: Avoid heavy protein powders, red meat, or heavy lentils. Stick exclusively to split yellow moong dal (green gram) or thin moong dal soups, which Ayurveda considers highly tissue-binding yet very light on the kidneys.
••The Power of Ghee: Include 1–2 teaspoons of pure cow’s ghee daily. Ghee is excellent for pacifying Vata, lubricating the tissues, and boosting Agni without harming the kidneys. ••Hydration with Purpose: Do not overload on plain water all at once, as this stresses weak kidneys. Instead, sip warm water, fresh coconut water, or maund-processed barley water (boiled and strained) throughout the day.
••Restrict Strict Aggrevators: Avoid excess salt (which raises blood pressure and worsens leakage), spicy foods, fermented items, and processed foods ••Pranayama: Daily practice of Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing) and Bhramari (Humming Bee Breath) for 10–15 minutes activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering stress hormones that constrict renal blood vessels.
