🌿 What is GULMUNDENE? Gulmundene is an Ayurvedic herbal formulation commonly given for: Enlarged prostate (BPH) Urinary flow problems Burning, frequency, incomplete emptying It usually contains herbs like Gokshura, Varuna, Punarnava, Shilajit (composition may vary by brand). 🩺 Does Gulmundene affect the kidneys? ✅ Generally SAFE for kidneys when: Taken in recommended dose Kidneys are not severely damaged Used for limited duration 👉 In fact, herbs like Punarnava & Gokshura are kidney-protective and improve urine flow. ⚠️ Caution needed if: You have advanced kidney disease Creatinine is high You take many medicines together ➡️ In such cases, dose adjustment or monitoring is needed. ⚠️ Possible side effects Most people tolerate it well, but rare side effects may include: Mild gastric irritation Loose stools (initial days) Increased urination (expected effect) Mild acidity in sensitive stomach ❌ It does NOT usually cause: Kidney failure Hormonal imbalance Sexual weakness ❓ Does it CURE enlarged prostate? 🔴 Honest answer: NO – it does not cure or shrink prostate permanently What it CAN do: ✔ Improve urine flow ✔ Reduce burning & frequency ✔ Reduce residual urine ✔ Slow further worsening ✔ Improve quality of life What it CANNOT do: ❌ Reverse large prostate ❌ Replace surgery if obstruction is severe ❌ “Dissolve” prostate tissue 🏥 Important: You mentioned SURGERY If you already had prostate surgery (TURP / laser etc.): 👉 Gulmundene is used only as supportive, for: Post-surgery urinary irritation Frequency Weak stream during recovery ❌ It is NOT required lifelong after surgery ❌ It will not change prostate size after surgery 🟢 Practical guidance for YOU ✔ Safe to continue short-term ✔ Monitor urine flow & comfort ✔ If no benefit in 4–6 weeks, stop ✔ Keep sugars & BP controlled (very important for prostate & kidneys) 🚨 When to STOP & see doctor Burning increases Fever or pain Blood in urine Sudden reduction in urine output ✅ Summary ✅ Kidney safe (in normal doses) ⚠️ Mild stomach side effects possible ❌ Does NOT cure enlarged prostate ✅ Helps symptoms only 🏥 After surgery → supportive role only

HELLO, DOES GULMUNDENE HAVE SIDE EFFECTS ON KIDNEYS? Gulmundene is usually an Ayurvedic preparation used for prostate enlargement and urinary symptoms In general, it DOES NOT directly damage kidneys if -taken in proper dosage -taken under supervision -kidney function is already normal HOWEVER -IF urine flow is severely blocked due to prostate enlargement, it can affect kidneys overtime(this is due to prostate problem, not the medicine) If you notice -swelling of feet -reduced urine output -foamy urine -severe back pain -high creatinine levels You must do -serum creatinine test -urien routine test -ultrasound KUB OTHER POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS Depending on body type and formulation, possible mild side effects may include -mild stomach upset -loose motions -gastric irritation -allergy (rare) -increased urination initially If taken in excess dose-> may cause dehydration If you are takin any allopathic medicines for prostate, Bp or diabetes, interactions are possible DOES IT CURE ENLARGED PROSTATE? Important to understand Enlarged prostate (BPH) is an age-related condition AYURVEDA CAN -reduce swelling -improve urine flow -reduce frequency -reduce residual urine -improve bladder strength BUT -it controls and reduces symptoms -It may not permanently “cure” large structural enlargement If prostate size Is very large (>60-80 gm), medicine alone may not reverse it completely In Ayurveda this condition is correlated with Mutraghata/ vata vriddhi affecting bastigata regio TREATMENT PRINCIPLES -reduce vata -reduce inflammation -improve urine flow -strengthen bladder INTERNALLY START 1) VARUNADI KASHAYA= 20 ml + equal water twic edialy after meals 2) GOKSHURADI GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals 3) CHANDRAPRABHA VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals 4) KANCHANAR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals 5) PUNARNAVA MANDUR= 2 tabs twice daily after meals 6) SHILAJIT (purified) capsules= 1 cap in morning empty stomach DIET -warm water -barley water -pumpkin seeds -ash gourd juice -coconut water if no kidney restriction -bottle gourd AVOID -excess tea coffee -alcohol -very spicy food -red meat excess -holding urine LIFESTYLE -do not sit for longhours -daily walking 30-40 min -avoid constipation very important PRACTICE -ashwini mudra -Moola bandha -vajrasana -baddha konasana WHEN SURGERY IS NEEDED AGAIN? If you develop -complete urine retention -repeated infections -blood in urine -kidney swelling -high residual urine Then urology consultation is mandatory DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. Hello Thanks for asking about GULMUNDENE for prostate issues. I’ll explain it simply, using both Ayurvedic and medical info, so you feel good about using it. What’s the concern According to Ayurveda, an enlarged prostate (BPH) is caused by • Vata blocks urine • Kapha-meda piles up around the prostate • There’s swelling This causes: • Weak urine stream • Dribbling • Not emptying all the way • Peeing at night • Irritated bladder What’s GULMUNDENE? It’s a modern herbal mix with mostly: Varuna (Crataeva nurvala) Punarnava Gokshura Trikantaka Shilajit …and other herbs good for the prostate and urinary system. These herbs: – Shrink the prostate – Lessen swelling – Make it easier to urine – Help you empty your bladder – Fight infection Does Gulmundene hurt kidneys? ❌ No – it helps them! Actually: • Varuna + Punarnava are awesome for cleaning kidneys • It helps creatinine levels and pee flow • Stops pressure from hurting kidneys It’s easier on kidneys than many regular meds. Possible mild sideeffect (rare) Some people might get in the first week or so: • A little gas • urinate more • Slight burning feeling (as stuff clears out) These mean it’s working, not bad reactions. Can it fix an enlarged prostate? Yes– if you use it right! Gulmundene: – Makes the prostate smaller – Helps empty the bladder completely – Cuts down on pee staying inside – Can help you avoid more surgery But for lasting results, you need to take it for at least 3–6 months. How to take it: Usually, it’s 1 capsule twice a day after eating, with warm water. (Keep taking your regular meds unless your doctor says to stop.) ❌AVOID –Alcohol – Smoking – Spicy food – Cold drinks – too much tea/coffee Gulmundene is: – Safe for kidneys – Safe for the liver – Okay for people with blood sugar problems –Safe to take long-term It deals with the root cause, not just the symptoms. Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

🌿 Gulmundene & Kidney Safety - Ayurvedic medicines are generally considered safe when prescribed correctly. 🔑 Ayurveda usually recommends herbs like: - Varuna (Crataeva nurvala) – reduces obstruction. - Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa) – diuretic, reduces swelling. - Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) – supports urinary flow. - Since you’ve already had surgery, Ayurvedic medicines may help with symptom relief and urinary comfort, but they won’t reverse structural changes. HELPFUL FOODS: - Pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds → rich in zinc, support prostate health. - Barley water, coconut water → gentle diuretics, reduce urinary retention. - Pomegranate, watermelon, papaya → cooling fruits that ease urinary irritation. - Green leafy vegetables, turmeric, garlic → reduce inflammation. AVOID: - Excess caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods → worsen urinary urgency. - Red meat and fried foods → increase inflammation. - Late-night heavy meals → strain digestion and worsen nocturia (night urination). 🧘 Lifestyle & Routine HYDRATION: Drink warm water throughout the day; avoid holding urine for long periods. YOGA AND EXERCISES: - Baddha Konasana (Butterfly pose) → strengthens pelvic floor. - Malasana (Squat pose) → improves bladder emptying. - Moola Bandha (pelvic floor contraction) → supports urinary control. DAILY HABITS: - Empty bladder fully when urinating. - Avoid sitting for very long periods; gentle walking helps circulation. - Maintain regular sleep; avoid late nights.

In most cases no significant kidney damage is reported when taken in standard dose for short periods. However, some users report mild increase in creatinine or discomfort (especially if pre-existing kidney issues or dehydration). ✓Not recommended if you already have CKD, high creatinine, or proteinuria. Monitor creatinine after 2–4 weeks of use. ✓Other possible side effects Mild stomach upset / loose motion (common in first week) Acidity or burning sensation (if taken empty stomach) Headache or dizziness (rare, usually dose-related) Allergic rash (very rare) No major sexual side effects reported (unlike finasteride/tamsulosin) ✓Does it cure enlarged prostate? No – it does not cure BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia). It may reduce symptoms (urgency, weak stream, incomplete emptying) in mild–moderate cases by 30–50% over 2–6 months. It does not shrink prostate size significantly (unlike surgery or 5-alpha reductase inhibitors). After surgery (TURP or similar), it is not needed unless symptoms recur. Recommendation If you just started (<1 week) and no major side effects then continue 1–2 tablets twice daily after food for 4–6 weeks. Drink 3–4 L water daily. Monitor: BP, creatinine, urine routine after 3–4 weeks. If no symptom relief , stop & revisit urologist (post-surgery recurrence needs evaluation for stricture, residual prostate tissue, etc.).
