Concern About Low Body Temperature and Energy Levels - #52373

For the past few months, I’ve been feeling colder than usual, even when everyone around me is fine. My hands and feet are always freezing, and sometimes I even shiver indoors when the temperature isn’t that low. I thought maybe I was just being sensitive to the weather, but then I started checking my temperature regularly, and it’s almost always around 96.8°F or sometimes even 96.5°F. I looked online, and most places say that the normal body temperature in Fahrenheit is 98.6°F, but then I read that it can vary. Now I’m really confused if my temperature is actually low or if I’m just overthinking. I did some blood tests to check for thyroid issues, but my TSH levels were in the normal range. My doctor didn’t seem too concerned and just said some people naturally have lower temperatures. But if that’s true, why do I also feel tired all the time? I’ve been waking up sluggish, my digestion feels slower, and sometimes I feel like my brain is foggy, like I can’t concentrate properly. Could all this be connected to my body temperature? Does Ayurveda look at body temperature differently? What does Ayurveda consider as the normal body temperature in Fahrenheit, and is having a lower temperature a sign of imbalance? Are there any herbal remedies or diet changes that can help regulate my body temperature and energy levels? Should I be worried about this, or is it okay to just leave it as it is?

Thank you so much. I have come to find out that my T3 is low, it seems my body is not converting T4 into T3. I would rather not take medication for this. I am now taking Iodine, selenium, and tyrosine. Are there further Ayurvedic recommendations you have?

Your temp slightly low reason low Agni (weak digestion/fire) Trikatu Churna 1 tsp with warm water Chitrakadi Vati 1 tab after food Ashwagandha Churna 1 tsp with warm milk at night u ll get results

Hello Thank you for such a clear description of your concern Your all symptoms like body temperature, energy and brain fog all are interconnected ▪️For your Understanding ➖About Temperature Normal commonly considered temperature is 98.6 is a average of a range not a fixed value Normal is considered from 97 to 99 Your body temperature ranges from 96.5 to 96.8 which is slightly on lower side If alone this was present then it not be of concerned But you are having other symptoms also so we have look into this carefully ▪️I will explain in simple words -Consider your body as metalic engine When your engine is working well you will have good warmth energy and better digestion -In your case this is runing slow Because of that only you are having -Cold extremities your hand and feet -Feeling of low energy -Brain fog -Skin becomes dry -Sluggish digestion ▪️also when your TSH is normal your basal metabolic rate may be low ▪️Do you need to be worried? No dont be worried Bu also dont ignore this As if not treated this it may lead to -Fatigue -May cause hormonal Imbalance -ans also can afect your immunity ▪️So we should focus on Not just on to increase your temperature But to improve your internal agni that is internal heat also improving your circulation ▪️Ayurvedic plan of treatment ➖For improving your internal heat -On empty stomach have a habit of drinking warm water and ginger juice -Before meal take small piece of dry ginger with rock salt This will improve your digestive fire as well as metabolism ▪️Diet plan ➖Include -Warm Noruishing food -1 tsp of ghee daily -Have vegetable soups -have spices like ginger or cumin ➖Avoid -cold food items -Reheated food -raw salads ▪️Ayurvedic support ➖Ashwagandhaaristha 20 ml twice daily after food ➖Chitrakadi vati 1 tab twice daily before food ▪️For external heat Do a gentle oil massage with coconut oil before bath once or twice a day Yes your temperature is low but it is due to insufficient internal heat So don’t worry about this your once your digestive agni is increase it will increase your body temperature also Wishing you a good health😊 Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Namste, yes ayurveda look temperature with a unique way , body temperature is also associated with Jathar agni (digestive fire ) which is supported by saman vaayu . basically pitta dosha (Fire element of body ) have the property of regulating temperature , digestive power and many other factors . low level of pitta dosh results in formation of Aam in body which slows down body metabolic rate due to which person feel lethargy all the time. Dos & Donts 1. Add Ghee in your daily diet ( prefer cow ghee) 2. avoid junk ,heavy, non veg food 3. Avoid curd (instead of it drink butter milk & add some rock salt in it) 4. take care of your sleep ( Avoid late night sleep & also sleeping in day) 5.Avoid stress Rx 1. panchgavya ghritam 5gm with lukewarm water early in morning ( lick some rock salt if you feel nausea or vomiting ,maybe you feel puking in start then you will get used to it ,its important it will increase your peristalsis movement as this associated with virechan therapy of panchkarma) 2… Avipathi Choornam 3gm with water before food twice a day 3. Patolmooladi kwath 20 ml with equal water after meal twice a day

Possible low metabolism Sometimes missed thyroid issues (even if TSH is normal) Low iron/B12 can also contribute Ayurvedic view This is Mandagni (low digestive fire) Likely Vata + Kapha imbalance Low body heat = low internal energy/metabolism Not dangerous, but don’t ignore it It’s a treatable metabolic imbalance Medicines Tab. Agnitundi vati 1 tab twice a day befor food Syp. Drakshasav 3 tsp twice a day before food Chitrakharitaki avleham 2 tsp twice a day with a cup of milk. Sesame seed oil body massage Luke warm and massage for 20 mins

Start with Ashwagandha lehyam, 0-0-1tsp at bedtime with water Take chitrakadi vati 1-0- after breakfast with water. Recommended medication here, besides this there are medication to buy from outside this app. Do full body massage with sesame oil on alternate day. Have warm water through out the day, warm food to eat. Do pranayam.

Hello, When your internal “thermostat” feels off and your energy levels are dipping, being told “everything is normal” on a lab report doesn’t change the fact that you don’t feel like yourself. In Ayurveda, we don’t just look at the numbers on a thermometer; we look at the Agni (metabolic fire) and the balance of Doshas (energetic principles). 1. The Ayurvedic Perspective on Body Temperature While modern medicine views 98.6 F as the standard, Ayurveda recognizes that “normal” is relative to your constitution (Prakriti). However, a consistent temperature of 96.5 F combined with fatigue, brain fog, and slow digestion is a classic sign of Mandagni (weakened digestive fire) and an increase in Vata or Kapha dosha.

Coldness (Vata/Kapha): Both Vata and Kapha are cold in nature. When these increase, they “dampen” the internal heat.

The TSH Paradox: Even if your TSH is “normal,” Ayurveda suggests your Dhatu Agni (tissue metabolism) might be sluggish. Your body isn’t “burning” fuel efficiently enough to generate heat, leading to that 96.8°F reading and the “foggy” feeling. 2. Is this an Imbalance? Yes. In Ayurveda, your symptoms suggest a state of Ama (toxic buildup due to undigested food). When Agni is low, food doesn’t convert into energy; it turns into a cold, sticky substance (Ama) that blocks the channels (Srotas), leading to: Cold extremities: Poor circulation. Brain fog: Blocked mental channels. Sluggishness: Lack of Prana (life force) reaching the cells. 3. Dietary & Lifestyle Adjustments To raise your internal temperature, we need to “kindle” your Agni (digestive capacity) Incorporate Ginger, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, and Cumin. These are Ushna (warming) and help digest Ama Stop drinking cold water. Sip warm or hot water throughout the day. This acts like a log on a dying fire. Eat cooked, easy-to-digest meals. Avoid raw salads, iced drinks, and heavy dairy, which are cold and heavy. Chitrakadi Vati: Excellent for increasing body heat and improving slow digestion. Dose: 1–2 tablets after lunch and dinner. Ashwagandha Arishta: it helps with Vata-related coldness and provides energy for that “sluggish” feeling. Dose: 15-20ml with equal water after meals. Agastya Haritaki: If you feel heavy and cold, this helps clear the channels and improve respiratory/metabolic heat. 5. Should You Be Worried? You don’t need to “worry,” but you shouldn’t “leave it as it is.” While it may not be a clinical disease yet, it is a functional imbalance. If left unaddressed, chronic low Agni can lead to deeper metabolic issues or a weakened immune system. Chew a small slice of fresh ginger with a pinch of sea salt 15 minutes before lunch and dinner. Spend 10–15 minutes daily in the morning sun to absorb teja mahabhoot of sun (I.e.solar energy).

Namaste, Your symptoms — feeling unusually cold, low body temperature (~96.5–96.8°F), low energy, slow digestion, brain fog, and dry skin — indicate vata dominance with low metabolic activity (manda agni). In Ayurveda, the focus is not only on exact temperature numbers but on how your metabolism and circulation are functioning. So even if lab values are normal, these symptoms suggest imbalance. The focus should be on improving metabolism, circulation, and internal warmth. Your temperature can be slightly lower than average and still be normal, but since you have associated symptoms like fatigue, cold intolerance, and poor digestion, it should be addressed. Diet and routine: Prefer warm, nourishing, freshly cooked foods. Include ghee, soups, stews, moong dal, whole grains, and soaked nuts. Use mild warming spices like ginger, cumin, and cinnamon. Avoid cold foods, raw salads, refrigerated items, and excess caffeine. Sip warm water through the day. Maintain regular meal timings and avoid skipping meals. Sleep on time and avoid late nights. Ayurvedic medicines with dose and timing: Ashwagandha Churna – 1 teaspoon, once daily with warm milk (evening) Chyawanprash – 1 teaspoon, once daily in the morning Dashmoolarishta – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food These are traditionally used to improve energy, support metabolism, and enhance overall strength when combined with proper routine. External support: Daily oil massage (abhyanga) with Dhanwantharam Taila or sesame oil, followed by a warm bath, can help improve circulation and reduce coldness. Since your thyroid is normal, this appears more like a functional metabolic imbalance rather than a disease. With consistent care, warmth and energy levels can gradually improve over a few weeks. Consultation can help tailor this further to your needs.
