Your symptoms clearly suggest shift-related gastric disturbance, most consistent with early Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or functional acidity aggravated by circadian rhythm disruption. The key observation in your case is: you are symptom-free during day shifts and symptomatic during night shifts. This strongly indicates that the timing of food, sleep, and body clock disturbance is the primary trigger rather than a structural disease. 1. First and most important advice (regarding night shifts) If it is possible in the long term, try to avoid permanent rotating night shifts. Repeated circadian rhythm disturbance: increases acid secretion weakens digestion (agni in Ayurveda terms) predisposes to chronic acidity and reflux However, if night duty is essential for your career or survival, then management should focus on disciplined habits rather than only medicines. 2. Corrections during night shifts Eating pattern Avoid heavy or spicy meals during night duty Prefer light, easily digestible food (khichdi, dal-rice, fruits) Do not eat just before going to sleep in the morning Keep at least 2–3 hours gap between last meal and sleep Water intake Avoid drinking large quantities of water at once Prefer small sips at regular intervals Post-meal habit Walk at least 150–200 steps after every meal Avoid lying down immediately 3. Day sleep and recovery Even if you sleep well at night shifts, daytime restorative sleep is essential: Ensure 6–7 hours uninterrupted sleep during the day Use a dark, quiet environment Fix a consistent sleep schedule even during shift weeks 4. Diet triggers to avoid Since you already identified triggers: Reduce spicy, fried, and oily foods Limit tea/coffee during night shifts Avoid packaged and junk food 5. Medicines Avipattikar churna is appropriate and can be continued. If symptoms persist, you may consider (under guidance): Kamdudha ras (for pitta control) Shankh bhasma or Sutshekhar ras (for acid regulation) Do not self-medicate long term without supervision.
