In Ayurveda, the combination of dry skin, insomnia, anxiety, and low appetite - paired with a white, coated tongue - typically indicates a Vata-Kapha imbalance with the presence of Ama (metabolic toxins). The white coating on the tongue suggests that your digestive fire (Agni) is weak, leading to undigested food waste (Ama). This Ama blocks the channels, preventing nutrients from reaching the skin and disrupting the nervous system. The Ayurvedic Perspective Dry Skin & Anxiety: Primarily a Vata disturbance. When Vata is high, it dries out the tissues and creates instability in the mind. Low Appetite & Coated Tongue: This is Agni Mandya (weak digestion). The coating must be cleared first, or tonics for skin and sleep will not be absorbed properly. Insomnia: A result of “moving” Vata preventing the mind from grounding at night. Prescription : 1. For Digestion and Clearing the Tongue (Ama Pachana) Ashta Choornam This is a classical formulation to kindle digestion and clear the white coating. It contains Trikatu and Hing, which help process toxins. Dose: 3 grams (approx. half to one teaspoon) taken twice daily, mixed with a little ghee or warm water, 15 minutes before your main meals. 2. For Anxiety and Insomnia (Nervine Tonic) Saraswatharishtam A fermented liquid preparation that acts as a brain tonic (Medhya Rasayana). It helps calm the nervous system and improves sleep quality without causing daytime drowsiness. Dose: 20 ml mixed with an equal amount of lukewarm water, taken twice daily after food. 3. For Dry Skin and Nervous System Support Ksheerabala 101 Avartti (Capsules/Drops) This is a fortified version of Ksheerabala oil. It is excellent for Vata disorders affecting the skin and sleep. Dose: 1 capsule twice daily after food. For enhanced sleep support, take the evening dose with a cup of warm milk. 4. External Support for Skin and Calmness Dhanwantharam Thailam A nourishing oil for body massage (Abhyanga) that hydrates the skin and grounds the Vata energy. Usage: Apply warm oil over the body 30 minutes before bathing. Focus on the soles of the feet and the scalp at night to further assist with insomnia. Important Guidelines Clear the Tongue: Use a copper tongue scraper every morning to physically remove the coating. Diet: Avoid cold, raw, or frozen foods. Favor warm, “soupy,” and easily digestible meals like Mung Dal Khichdi until your appetite returns and the coating on your tongue clears. Sip Warm Water: Drink warm water throughout the day to help flush out the Ama.

Your symptoms show weak digestion with ama + vata imbalance. That is why you have low appetite, white-coated tongue, dryness, anxiety and poor sleep. Using strong medicines like Trikatu is causing bloating because your system is sensitive. First focus on gently improving digestion, not aggressively. Start your day with a small piece of ginger with a pinch of salt before meals. This will slowly improve appetite without irritation. Eat small, frequent meals instead of forcing large meals. Continue khichdi and moong dal but add a little ghee to improve nourishment and digestion. Avoid raw food, cold food, and heavy or dry items. Take only warm, freshly cooked food. Sip warm water throughout the day. For dryness and vata, do daily body oil massage with sesame oil and apply oil on scalp 2–3 times a week. This will help both skin and sleep. For sleep and anxiety, fix a routine. Sleep by 10–10:30 pm. Do light breathing or meditation before bed. Medicines: Avipattikar churna 3 grams at night with warm water. Ashwagandha churna 3 grams at night with warm milk. Shankh vati 1 tablet before meals twice daily. Drakshasava 15 ml with equal water after meals twice daily. Avoid Trikatu for now since it is causing discomfort. This approach will slowly improve appetite, reduce coating on tongue, and support sleep and anxiety. Improvement will be gradual, consistency is important. For proper step-by-step correction based on your response, you can consult me.

Symptoms you describe above is pointing towards the Ama and vata imbalance and low appetite with bloating which clearly says vara dominant grahini or weak digestive fire While Trikatu is used for Arma it high heat can some time also aggravate the sensitive gut which leads bloating We will focus on Deepan and pachan and vata anulomana 1) Dhanwantharam Kwath- 15 ml with 45 ml lukewarm water 30 minutes before breakfast and dinner 2) Dadimashtaka Churna- 3 grams twice daily with buttermilk or water 3) Hinguvachadi Gulika-1 tablet twice daily after meals 4) Kalyanaka Ghritam-1 tsp at bedtime With warm water or milk 5)Saraswatarishtam- 20 ml with equal water after lunch Continue with Khichdi and moong dal please add small amount of ghee and Jeera in your diet drink warm water boiled with dry ginger and drink it throughout the day Avoid raw salad cold drink fermented food Include butter milk in your daily diet with A Pinch of roasted jeera and rock salt Apply warm sesame oil to the body or at least to the feet and scalp before bathing Try to eat and sleep same time everyday

Namaste Vinod ji, I can understand this must be frustrating, eating simple food, trying medicines, and still not feeling improvement. Let’s simplify what’s happening in your body. Your symptoms - dry skin, anxiety, poor sleep, low appetite, white coating on tongue—point towards: * High Vata + weak digestion (low Agni) with Ama (toxins) Because your digestion is weak, even helpful medicines like Trikatu are feeling too strong and causing bloating. This means your body needs gentle correction, not aggressive detox right now. Avoid trikatu and start with avipattikar at night. Adding other medications too. Take small amount if warm sesame seed oil and massage your feet before bed. For 5-10 mins For diet kichdi is good, make sure its not made in pressure cooker and add ghee to it before it. Do not take salads with your meals. Or any fruits before or after meals. Have them at a saperate hour. In the morning have this CCF tea (cumin coriander and fennel) boil a small amt 1 with glass water and reduce it to 1/3 and have it warm daily in the morning. On days you dont feel like having this tea. Add tbsp ghee in water & have that first thing in the morning. Try thin rice gruel (kanji) occasionally. Eat at fixed times (very important for weak Agni) Even if hunger is low, take small portions on your fixed time Avoid these for now • Cold food, fridge items • Raw salads • Tea/coffee on empty stomach • Packaged, dry snacks (biscuits, namkeen) Water- Sip it whole it dont drink a lot at once specially after your meals. Boil the water you can bring it to room temp, try to drink this water only Dont stay up late night, if you are currently going to bed at 1 AM try to reduce it by 12:30 today and gradually decrease it like that And in the morning no matter how you are just wake up at a fixed time go outside in sunlight. Even if you’re not sleepy just go to bed lie down. Turn off all the lights and specially your phone. Sit quietly, do some reading or maybe right about your day completely avoid using your phone 30 to 40 minutes before bed. If mind is overactive slow deep breathing will help. Focus on long exhalation. You can even put some guided meditation videos from YouTube and just lay your phone near your pill listen to that. Don’t eat when stressed, or when you are using your phone. Focus on your plate chew calmly. Keep your routine more predictable, your body he is faster when in rhythm. Avoid sleeping during daytime. When you support your digestion and nervous system together, everything, appetite, sleep, and energy starts improving gradually. Give this plan at least 2–3 weeks with patience. If you still feel stuck or need more clarity, you can reach out with your updates, your plan can then be adjusted more precisely for better results.
