Doctors' responses
Yes, in Ayurveda this pattern can be related to dosha imbalance, mainly involving Kapha and Pitta along with weak or irregular digestion (Agni imbalance). In cold weather, Kapha increases naturally, which can cause sticky, heavy, mucus-like stools and sluggish digestion. In hot weather, Pitta becomes dominant and may “liquefy” digestion, leading to loose stools, heat sensitivity, and skin flare-ups. Feeling hot in winter and cold in summer suggests your body is struggling to maintain dosha balance properly. This usually indicates: Weak digestive fire (Mandagni) Improper food digestion forming “Ama” (toxins) Gut sensitivity affected by seasonal changes Ayurvedic Correction Diet Eat freshly cooked, light, warm meals Maintain fixed meal timings Avoid overeating, junk food, curd at night, cold drinks, excess spicy/oily food Reduce excessive tea, sugar, bakery items, and fermented foods Helpful habits Drink warm water through the day Take short walks after meals Sleep on time and reduce stress medicines like: Takra (buttermilk) with roasted jeera Avipattikar Churna Kutajghan Vati Triphala at night may help regulate digestion and bowel consistency. If symptoms are frequent, also rule out: IBS Food intolerance Gut infection Liver or digestive disorders
