In Ayurveda, chronic constipation is usually related to Vata imbalance, weak digestion (Mandagni) and dryness in the intestines. If Triphala alone is not helping, your body may need a deeper correction of digestion and bowel movement rather than only a laxative effect. Ayurvedic Advice Wake up early and drink 2–3 glasses of warm water on an empty stomach. Take simple, warm and freshly cooked food. Avoid tea excess, bakery items, cold foods, fast food and very dry foods. Add 1–2 tsp cow ghee in lunch or dinner to lubricate the intestines. Daily 20–30 minutes walking after meals helps improve Apana Vata. Helpful Ayurvedic Medicines Hingvashtak Churna — improves digestion, gas and bloating. Avipattikar Churna — useful when stool is not properly evacuated. Gandharva Haritaki — very beneficial in chronic constipation with incomplete bowel movement. Warm milk with 1 tsp ghee at bedtime may also help naturally. Important Routine Try to go to toilet at the same time every morning, even if stool does not come immediately. Regular timing gradually trains the bowel. When to Seek Medical Evaluation If constipation is associated with: weight loss, bleeding, severe abdominal pain, persistent change in bowel habits, or constipation for many months, then proper medical examination is important to rule out piles, fissure, IBS or colon-related issues. With proper digestion correction, diet and Vata balancing, chronic constipation usually improves gradually and bowel movements become more regular and satisfying.
