Thank you for sharing your concerns in detail. Eczema with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is commonly seen when there is underlying imbalance in Rakta dhatu (blood tissue) along with Pitta aggravation. With proper internal purification, skin support, and lifestyle management, improvement is usually possible gradually and naturally. Based on your symptoms, I would suggest the following Ayurvedic support: • Mahamanjishthadi Kwath – helps in blood purification and supports chronic inflammatory skin conditions. • Khadirarishta – useful for skin detoxification and maintaining healthy complexion. • Manjishtha Powder – beneficial for pigmentation and overall skin health. For external application: • winsoria oil may be gently applied over dry or irritated areas to soothe the skin and reduce discomfort. • Vasu Cutis Powder paste can be applied carefully over darker pigmented areas for skin support. Diet is equally important in eczema management. Continue taking simple, fresh, home-cooked meals. Avoid excessively spicy, fried, packaged, fermented, or junk foods as much as possible. Increase hydration and include healthy fats like flaxseeds and walnuts in moderation. Your practice of Tai Chi is excellent. Stress often worsens eczema, so continuing relaxation practices such as meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises will also help in long-term management. Please remember that skin healing in Ayurveda takes time and consistency. Regular observation of the skin response is important, and medicines may need adjustment depending on progress. . Wishing you steady recovery and healthy skin ahead.
1. Managing Post-Eczema Hyperpigmentation (Twak Vaivarnya) Since there is no active inflammation or itching in these patches, the goal is purely Varnya (complexion-restoring) and Rakta Shodhana (blood purification) to support the skin’s natural renewal process. Topical Interventions (Bahiparimarjana Chikitsa) •Kumkumadi Tailam / Nalpamaradi Thailam: Application: Apply 3–5 drops to the forehead patch and a sufficient amount to the abdomen, thighs, and hands. Method: Gently massage in an upward direction until absorbed. Leave it on for 30–45 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. For the face, Kumkumadi is highly effective; for body patches, Nalpamaradi (rich in bark from the four Ficus species) is excellent for post-inflammatory spots. Internal Blood Purifiers (Abhyantara Chikitsa) •Sarivadya Asava or Khadirarishta: Dosage: 15–20 ml with an equal quantity of lukewarm water, twice daily after meals. These formulations help cleanse the Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue), which directly influences the clarity of the Twak (skin). Manjishtadi Kwath: An excellent systemic Varnya (complexion enhancer) herb that assists the liver and blood in clearing residual metabolic wastes (Ama) responsible for uneven pigmentation. 2. Managing Groin Itching (Yoni/Bhaga Kandu) Itching is primarily mediated by Kapha Dosha, while the cyclical nature (worsening around menstruation) points to an involvement of Vata and Artava Vaha Srotas. Moisture accumulation in this anatomical region creates a breeding ground for superficial fungal or bacterial activity. Local Hygiene & Soothing Protocols •Triphala Prakshalana (vaginal/Groin Wash): •Preparation: Boil 1 tablespoon of Triphala Churna in 1 liter of water. Reduce it slightly, strain it thoroughly using a clean cloth, and let it cool down to a lukewarm temperature. •Usage: Use this decoction to wash the external groin area daily, especially during and immediately after your menstrual cycle. Triphala possesses potent antimicrobial (Krimighna) and astringent qualities that reduce dampness and itching. •Topical Application: Instead of relying heavily on chemical-laden over-the-counter creams, you may consider applying Jatyadi Taila or Gandhaka Malahara (an Ayurvedic sulfur-based ointment) to the clean, dry affected area. They soothe irritated skin and manage localized pathogens without altering the natural pH of the flora. •Internal Support •Haridra Khanda: •Dosage: 1 teaspoon (approx. 3–5 grams) with lukewarm water or milk, twice daily. It is an exceptional classical formulation for allergic skin manifestations and cyclical itching
Thank you Dr Harsh for the detailed response. I do have some follow up questions. - How much Manjishtadi Kawth to consume? Instructions missing. - Which suits my constitution - Sarivadya Asava or Khadirarishta? I might be Pitta dominant given how my body is naturally warmer than others and how I’m prone to abdomen pain and headaches during summer. - Can the genital itching be eczema? I always dry myself using tissues or cloth and keepit dry as much. The itch is mild to moderate and as mentioned cyclical in nature. It’s sometimes before, sometimes during period and sometimes after. Also I noticed a weird burning sensation in the anal region especially during defaction for the last 2 months. - I had Typhoid 26 years back and lost 80% of hair volume, I was able to recover 40%, how do I get back the rest? I shed hair quite easily on a daily basis. - Last question, how long to follow the eczema protocol prescribed? Thank you once again
Okay… 1. You may take 15 ml of Manjisthadi Kwath, mixed with an equal amount of water; this should be taken twice a day, after meals. 2. You can use Sarivadi Asav; since you mentioned that you have a Pitta prakrati this remedy will be well-suited to your specific body type. 3. If you experience a burning sensation after passing stools, you may perform a sitz bath. To do this, fill a tub with lukewarm water, add a small amount (approximately one pinch) of alum powder to it, and soak your anal area in the mixture. 4. First start this treatment…thyroid and hair fall treatment after this…and you can take my personal consultation for better and details consultation… ••Thank you…have a great healthy life…
