In Ayurveda, your skin type appears to have a combination of Vata and Pitta imbalances, which can lead to pimples after menstruation, excess oiliness, and sensitivity to certain products. To address this, you can use lighter, non-comedogenic moisturizers made with herbs like Aloe Vera, Rosewater, and Sandalwood, which help balance oil production and soothe the skin without clogging pores. You can also try applying a mixture of honey and turmeric as a natural mask to reduce inflammation and pimples. For better skin health, focus on a Pitta-pacifying diet with cooling foods like cucumbers, coconut, and leafy greens. Avoid heavy or oily foods and processed sugars that can aggravate Pitta. Regular cleansing with a mild herbal cleanser containing Neem or Tea Tree oil, along with managing stress and getting proper sleep, can help balance your skin.

Ah, I see what you’re going through. It’s not uncommon to struggle with pimples, especially around your menstrual cycle. From an Ayurvedic perspective, this could be related to a temporary imbalance of your doshas, particularly an excess of Pitta aggravated by hormonal fluctuations. When the internal heat increases, it results in excessive oil production, leading to pimples, especially in combination skin type like yours.

Firstly, let’s address the products. Since the moisturizer makes your skin overly oily, it’s important to find a lighter formulation that suits your skin. Look for non-comedogenic and oil-free formulas, which won’t clog your pores. Sometimes less is more—for example, using too many treatments can irritate the skin and worsen things. Stick with the gentle Cetaphil cleanser for now if it feels alright.

Besides skincare, focus on cooling your Pitta. Incorporate foods that are naturally cooling and balancing during these times. Cucumber, coconut water, cilantro, and aloe vera are great. Avoid spicy, oily, and acidic foods around your periods, as they can aggravate Pitta further. You might want to try triphala—it’s a well-known Ayurvedic remedy that supports digestion and detoxification, promoting clearer skin.

Stay hydrated and don’t skip meals, keeping your digestive fire (agni) steady. This helps in detoxifying, reducing the likelihood of pimples. Moreover, practice some calming yoga or relax with deep-breathing exercises. Stress can heighten Pitta, contributing to skin issues.

Though you’ve consulted a doctor, it’s crucial to have a follow-up if things aren’t getting better. Adjustments in prescribed treatments may be necessary, so keep your healthcare provider updated. Just don’t rush into trying everything all at once - patience and consistency are clutch when dealing with skin issues.

Remember that achieving balance takes time, and what works for one might not suit another. Monitor your body’s reactions and refine the approach till you find a routine that’s harmonious for you.
