how to make kadha for fever - #25833

Connor

I am feeling really under the weather, and I think I might have a fever. It started two days ago, just a slight chill, but now it's gotten worse and I'm feeling all achy and miserable. My friend told me about kadha and how it’s this amazing Ayurvedic remedy for fever. I mean, I’ve heard of kadha before, but I never really tried to make it myself. Like, do I need special ingredients? How to make kadha for fever anyway? I want something that can really help boost my immunity. Last time I caught a cold, I just relied on over-the-counter stuff, but it didn’t really work. I remember my grandmother used to make kadha for my siblings when we were little, but I wish I had paid more attention to her. I think she would add ginger and pepper and maybe some herbs? I’m not even sure!! If anyone has a good, easy recipe for kadha for fever and tips on how to make kadha for fever that I can whip up quickly, that would be such a lifesaver! Thanks!

Making kadha for fever is a great Ayurvedic approach to help alleviate symptoms and boost immunity. The beauty of kadha lies in its simplicity and use of commonly available herbs and spices, many of which you may already have in your kitchen. Here’s a straightforward recipe you can try:

Ingredients you’ll need are: 1 cup of water, 1-inch piece of fresh ginger (grated), 4-5 black peppercorns (crushed), 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 5-6 fresh basil leaves (Tulsi), 1-2 cloves, a small piece of cinnamon stick, and honey or jaggery to taste.

Steps to prepare: Begin by boiling the water in a pot. Add the grated ginger, crushed black pepper, turmeric powder, and the cloves together with the cinnamon stick into the boiling water. Let these simmer for 10 to 15 minutes allowing the water to reduce to half its original quantity - this intensifies the flavor and potency of the herbs. During the last few minutes, throw in the basil leaves. Then strain the mixture into a cup and sweeten with honey or jaggery as per your taste. It’s best to drink this warm, slowly sipping it.

As for boosting immunity, kadha works by stimulating your digestive fire or ‘Agni’, which is key in processing toxins and building resistance. Ginger and turmeric are especially known for their anti-inflammatory and immune-enhancing properties.

As a additional tip, try avoiding cold foods or beverages, and rest as much as possible. Also, maintaining hydration is important during a fever, so ensure you’re sipping warm water throughout the day. If your symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical attention is advisable as high fever may require more immediate intervention.

Remember that, consistency matters, so you might want to include kadha as part of your regular routine, not just when you’re ill. But do listen to your body; if drinking kadha makes you uncomfortable, it’s okay to consult with a healthcare professional about alternatives.
