why my hair is falling so much - #36427
I am really worried about my hair loss recently. Last few months, I've noticed I'm shedding way more than usual. I mean, like clumps in the shower and piles on my pillow! I try not to stress about it, you know, but it’s hard when I wake up and see all these strands on my comb. I’m like, “Why my hair is falling so much?” I keep asking my friends, and they say maybe it’s stress or my diet, but I feel like I'm eating okay? Honestly, I thought it was just a phase or something. My grandma had beautiful thick hair until, well, she was much older. I’m in my twenties and shouldn't be dealing with this. I tried some shampoos that claim to help but no luck. And maybe its the chemicals that are messing with my scalp?? I don’t really know but, ugh, why my hair is falling so much? I mean, I used to have this great volume but now it's like, thinning out, and I'm freaking out every time I see the mirror. Really hoping someone here can shed some light or recommend a good remedy or something. Are there any ayurvedic treatments or herbs that can help? I am open to anything, really!

Hair loss can indeed be distressing, especially when it hits earlier than anticipated. From an Ayurvedic perspective, hair loss is often linked to dosha imbalances, particularly Pitta dosha, which tends to cause heat in the body and affects the health of the hair when out of balance. However, it’s not just about doshas – we must consider overall lifestyle, diet, and stress levels too.
Well, first things first, let’s talk about the diet. Even if you feel your diet’s alright, you’ll benefit from a deeper look. Intake ghee, almonds, and sesame seeds which are rich in nutrients beneficial for hair health. Ensure there’s enough iron and protein in your meals – such as lentils, leafy greens, and nuts. Also, avoid excessively spicy, oily, or fermented foods, as they can exacerbate Pitta imbalances and contribute to hair fall.
Try incorporating Ayurvedic herbs known for promoting hair health. Bhringraj, Amla, and Brahmi are renowned for strengthening hair, promoting growth and reducing hair fall. You can use a natural oil like coconut oil or sesame oil mixed with Bhringraj powder to massage your scalp. Do it gently, twice a week, maybe before taking a shower. This enhances blood circulation in the scalp and nourishes the roots.
Reducing stress plays a vital role. Practices such as meditation, yoga, or pranayama can be immensely beneficial. Try spending about 20 minutes a day focusing on such activities to calm your mind. It should help mitigate the effects stress might have been having on your hair health.
Additionally, maintain a regular sleeping pattern and aim for 7-8 hours per night. Lack of sleep directly affects hair health as it disturbs the bodily clock and hormonal balance.
Be cautious about frequent washing with chemical-laden shampoos. Opt for herbal alternatives or mild shampoos free from sulfates and parabens. Space out the hair washes to every 2 to 3 days.
If after following these steps the hair loss persists, consider seeking help from a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized advice. They might suggest specific treatments or concoctions better tailored to your unique constitution or investigate further underlying issues. Hair loss can sometimes be a symptom of a deeper medical concern that warrants professional assessment.
