Flesh Colored Bumps on Chin and Nose Area - #46146
I have flesh colored bumps on chin and near the nose area. They for sure are not closed comedones. They are neither itchy nor painful. Not sure if they are hypertrophic scars and they look similar to sebaceous hyperplasia. Is there any treatment for them in Ayurveda?

In Ayurveda, such skin conditions can be linked to imbalances in the doshas, particularly Pitta, which governs heat and transformation in the body. These bumps could be a sign of an imbalance in the skin’s oil production processes, often related to vitiated Pitta along with Kapha dosha. However, sebaceous hyperplasia and other non-painful bumps can generally be managed through dietary adjustments, herbal remedies, and lifestyle practices.
Firstly, it’s essential to minimize excess heat and oil in your diet and lifestyle. Avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods which can aggravate Pitta dosha. Increase the intake of cooling and hydrating foods such as cucumber, melons, and leafy greens. Also, staying hydrated is crucial, so drink plenty of water throughout the day. Aloe vera juice is particularly beneficial for cooling Pitta.
To help balance the skin’s oil production, regularly applying a gentle herbal paste might be beneficial. Consider making a paste of sandalwood powder with rose water and applying it to the affected areas. Sandalwood has a cooling property and helps soothe irritated skin. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes before washing off with cool water.
Triphala, a traditional Ayurvedic mixture of three fruits, can aid in detoxifying the body and supporting healthy skin. You can consume Triphala in a tablet form or as a powder mixed with warm water before bed, which assists in gentle body cleansing.
Stress can also exacerbate Pitta imbalance, so incorporate activities that calm the mind, such as yoga and deep breathing exercises. Ensure you’re getting enough restful sleep, as it helps in maintaining hormonal balance and skin health.
Consultation with an Ayurveda practitioner would help in a more personalized assessment to better understand your prakriti and the root cause of your condition. Remember that Ayurveda is holistic, encompassing diet, herbs, and lifestyle modifications to achieve balance and wellbeing.
