In Ayurveda, the symptoms you are describing point toward a significant imbalance of Vata Dosha, which has also disturbed Pitta (contributing to the piles) and Agni (your digestive fire, leading to the gas and bloating). Let’s break down exactly what is happening in your body according to Ayurvedic principles, and how we can manage it safely for both you and your baby. •Piles (Arsh): Pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum phase naturally aggravate Vata in the pelvic region (Apana Vata). This leads to dryness, strained bowel movements, and weakened localized tissue, resulting in piles. ••Hand, Leg, and Joint Aches: Postpartum and breastfeeding draw heavily on your Rasa Dhatu (nutrient plasma) and Rakta Dhatu (blood). When these are depleted, Vata occupies the empty channels (Srotas) in your muscles and joints, causing deep, aching pains that characteristically peak late at night and early in the morning (the classic Vata times of the day). 1.Hingwashtak Churna: Take a very small pinch (approx. 500 mg to 1 gram) of Hingwashtak Churna with your first morsel of food during lunch and dinner, mixed with a teaspoon of warm cow’s ghee. This direct targeting will help release the trapped gas under your ribs. 2.Sitz Bath (Avagaha Sweda): Sit in a tub of warm water containing a decoction of Triphala Churna for 10-15 minutes after passing stools. This instantly relieves localized pain, reduces swelling in the piles, and maintains hygiene. 3.Abhyanga (Warm Oil Massage): Because internal Vata-pacifying herbs must be limited during lactation, external management is your best friend. Massaging your hands and legs with warm Dhanwantharam Thailam or Maha Narayan Thailam before a warm shower will drastically reduce the late-night and early-morning aches. It strengthens the muscles and calms the nervous system. •Strictly Avoid: Dry, cold, and stale food; carbonated drinks; heavy-to-digest lentils like kidney beans (Rajma), chickpea (Chhole), and black gram (Urad Dal); and cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and cabbage, which aggravate gas. ••Favor: Freshly cooked, warm, semi-solid meals. Include gourds (bottle gourd, ridge gourd), soaked almonds, and adequate amounts of A2 Cow’s Ghee, which is essential to counteract the internal dryness causing both the piles and the body aches.
